With the release of his album, an opening spot on Taylor Swift's tour, and a collaboration with Camilla Cabello, 2015 was an incredible year for Shawn Mendes. Well, even though it's early, 2016 is shaping up to be even bigger: Shawn was just signed with major modeling agency Wilhelmina.

"We are pleased to announce Wilhelmina’s representation of such an incredible artist like Shawn," the CEO of Wilhelmina said in a statement. "Shawn is an infectious and talented performer, and we are confident his career in the modeling industry will be as exciting and accomplished. We look forward to the journey of working closely with him and the team to build the Shawn Mendes brand."

Honestly, it's more surprising that Shawn didn't already have a modeling contract — between those big brown eyes and his chiseled, All-American features (okay, more appropriately, All-Canandian), he's got male model written all over him. And it sounds like he's just as thrilled about it as we are.

"I’m so excited to be working with Wilhelmina," he said in a statement. "I can’t wait for everyone to see what we have planned for this year!”

Just don't expect him to abandon his singing career anytime soon: Wilhelmina also represents musicians like Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato. This contract is all about boosting Shawn's brand through "modelling, endorsement and product deals in the fashion arena, seeking out editorial opportunities," according to a release by the agency. That just means we'll be seeing Shawn's face way more this year — so 2016 is already looking up for us, too.
