I just got my first shipment of the Original box and I'm so thrilled I couldn't wait until I'd tried all of them to write a review. I've been in a tea rut for a while, since the two loose leaf shops in my area both closed down within a year of each other and I was excited to try new things.
First, they shipped the October box in plenty of time for me to get it at the beginning of the month and since I just subscribed, that seems like a pretty good response time. The October box consists of four offerings and so far I have only gotten to try one of them, but I'm in love already and I'm super-excited about the other three. I brew my own kombucha at home so I fully intend to use the Fujian Black they sent for that purpose (although I will try it hot, as normal before I do, but plain unflavored black tea isn't generally my favorite, so most likely this will be used for my brew). The one I have drank at the time of writing this review is the Simao Spring tips and I like it a lot more than I expected to. The bag describes it as having "notes of sweet potato, caramel, nuts, fruits and spices" and that is not a bad description for this tea at all. I'm a huge fan of "Goguma" (sweet potato) lattes and this remind me a lot of those, especially when mixed with a bit of heavy cream. The third bag is Kathmandu Cosmos, which is described as being a chai blend. I'm addicted to chai so I can't wait to try this one. Last is a the Pacific Peppermint, described as an herbal tea. It will be nice to have some peppermint around again, especially with the weather starting to cool down.
I love the speed these came in and the amount I got for the price. I tend to be a bit picky when it comes to tea and I've paid more money for less product and sometimes gotten less enjoyment from some of those past buys. According to the literature in the packaging Tea Runners will be coming soon to Amazon Prime, so I'm hoping that means if there is a sample I like, I'll be able to order it in larger amounts at some point in the future.
I'll update this review if anything particularly funky happens with my test sips of the other three teas but if I haven't updated in a few days, assume the best. It's early, but so far I highly recommend this subscription.
