USAF Texan II crashes, crew eject

A US Air Force (USAF) Raytheon T-6A Texan II trainer aircraft crashed on 1 May, with both crew members ejecting safely.

The incident occurred shortly before 1400 h local time at Sheppard Air Force Base (AFB) in Oklahoma. No further details were released, and an investigation has been launched.

The T-6A Texan II is a military trainer version of the Beechcraft-Pilatus PC-9 Mk 2. Prior to this incident, the USAF had 444 of the single-turboprop Texan IIs in its inventory, which it utilises for basic flying training. Besides Sheppard AFB, the type is located at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Naval Air Station Pensacola, Columbus AFB, Laughlin AFB, and Vance AFB.
