RÚV to show Eurovision in English

[09.05.2019: IMPORTANT CHANGES ADDED] RÚV has announced it will show the Eurovision Song Contest this year with a choice of Icelandic, English, and sign language commentary.

The event—the world’s most popular music show—will feature semi-finals on Tuesday 14th and Thursday 16th May, and a grand final on Saturday 18th.  

Iceland’s Hatari will perform for jury and public votes on the Tuesday night and, if successful the first time round, they will perform again on Saturday.  

RÚV will be there throughout, with regular coverage across all media, and with live coverage of the shows. 

Gísli Marteinn Baldursson will provide his much-loved Icelandic language commentary on RÚV 1 as usual, while RÚV 2 will feature live commentary from RÚV English, on Tuesday and Thursday.

For the Saturday Grand Final, RÚV 2 will feature Icelandic sign language alongside Gísli Marteinn's Icelandic commentary and RÚV English will provide live coverage online through RUV.is.

Coverage on will start at 19.00 on the 14th, 16th, and 18th May. 

How do I access RÚV TV?  

RÚV 1 and RÚV 2 are available through all standard digital TV packages in Iceland. RÚV 1 is usually channel number 1. RÚV 2 is channel 996 on Vodafone and channel 199 on Síminn.
