Once discovered by backpackers some 30 years ago, Thailands third largest island, Koh Samui, has still preserved its original tropical charm and relaxation and enjoyable holidays already starts at the airport with its bamboo hut romantic and tropical surrounding. Samui has everything to offer to make your vacation an unforgettable one - white sand beaches, beautiful nature, delicious wining & dining and accommodation with the tropical flair you have dreamed of. You can rejuvenate your body and soul in one of the spas, join some of the fun activities and explore the attractions around the island. After dark bars, pubs and dance clubs invite for a drink or two and the roads are lined with all kind of shopping opportunities. Daily flights from Bangkok and other destinations make Samui easy accessible, even for a short weekend trip.
Chaweng Beach
6 km of white sandy beach, tropical hotels, a hopping nightlife, numerous restaurants and shopping opportunities makes Chaweng the most popular beach on the island's east coast. During the day one can relax on the beach, enjoy some water sports or other activities while at nighttime Chaweng transfers to a bustling entertainment area with live music, cabaret shows, dance clubs and dining opportunities not to be missed.
Lamai Beach
is the second popular beach after Chaweng. The sea gets quickly deeper making it perfect for swimming and water sports. At the southern end of the beach the famous Grandfather & Grandmother rock formations, stretch their bizarre shapes in the sky. Restaurants, spas, bars and shopping opportunities are plentiful and the nightlife is just second to Chaweng however generally, Lamai is perfect for families and couples.
Bophut Beach
Located in the North of Samui, between Maenam and Chaweng, Bophut consists of the Fisherman's Village and the beach west of it. The beach at the village is small and not too suitable for swimming as there are many tour and diving boats going from here to other islands. It still conveys the atmosphere of a small fishing village however it recently turned as well into a dining Mecca, with plenty of excellent restaurants not to be missed.
Maenam Beach
is located in the North of Samui with smooth sand and good swimming preferences, perfect for families with small children as the water is shallow and there is no noise from nightlife or traffic. Shopping opportunities as well as restaurants are located in the area, most within walking distance. It is just a 15 minutes drive to the action in Chaweng and 10 minutes to Bophut's Fisherman Village for some fine wining and dining.
Big Buddha Beach
is located in the northeast of Samui and has smooth sand, good swimming preferences and is safe for children. From here you have fantastic views over the 12 meter high golden Big Buddha. Big Buddha Beach has everything to offer like restaurants, bars and shopping opportunities and all kind of accommodations from simple beach huts to tropical resorts catering to all budgets.

Attractions

The biggest attraction of Koh Samui are, of course, the pristine, palm fringed beaches with powdery white sand. But there is more on Samui to see. Apart from the colorful temples one can enjoy breathtaking views over the beaches and neighboring islands, take a refreshing dip in one of the waterfalls or get enchanted at the Magic Buddha Garden in the heart of the island.
