Programs offered to schools and community groups with a three prong approach which includes workshops for staff, parents and students:

  • CAP for Early Childhood, Elementary, Teen, Special Needs Students
  • CAP’s Bullying Prevention Program
  • “Cyber-Empowerment” – about cyber-bullying and safety

Programs only offered to adults:

  • “Recognizing and Responding to Sexual Behavior of Children”

The Hunterdon County CAP Team is comprised of dedicated, caring, professional child advocates. Many are parents themselves and they share the belief that “All Children Deserve to Be Safe, Strong and Free!” Knowledge is power. The more we know as adults the more we can help empower our children to recognize and deal with potentially dangerous situations.

Since 1985, 100% of the public schools in Hunterdon County have received CAP Programming. The following districts have implemented CAP in the last 5 years; many implementing CAP as a maintenance program each year:

  • Alexandria Township
  • Bethlehem Township
  • Califon Borough
  • Clinton Township
  • Delaware Township
  • Franklin Township
  • Frenchtown Elementary
  • Hampton Elementary School
  • Holland Township
  • Immaculate Conception School
  • Magnolia Montessori School
  • Norwescap ~ Flemington Head Start
  • St. Paul Christian School

Comments made by school staff after CAP implementation in their district:

  • “The CAP facilitators did a wonderful job speaking to our students about things we normally don’t talk about. They did a better job than I could have done myself!”
  • A school administrator wrote, “I received a letter today from my daughters’ school that they will participate in the CAP program with their kindergarten class. (in a different district) I was very happy to see that my own children will be able to participate in this program as well. Excellent job!”
  • “Thank you for your presentation. I learned things myself that I really hadn’t thought about before. I will share with my own children.”
  • “This program is one of a kind and is so important to keeping our students safe and keeping our staff aware of the potential harm that can happen to out students.”
  • Our school staff embraces the CAP program each year. The program provides teachers with age appropriate scenarios at each grade level. The role-plays are often discussed with students especially when situations arise with peer conflicts.  Staff remind students to use CAP project strategies and reinforce the importance of everyone having the right to be Safe, Strong & Free!”
  • “Last year after having CAP programs in our schools, I believe the power of the program guided our middle school students to report to law enforcement about a sexual perpetrator living in our community who had several victims.”

Comments 7th and 8th grade students made after participating in Teen CAP workshops in their classrooms:

  • “I liked how the program prepared me if anything ever happens to me.”
  • “You guys always do a GREAT job! Thank you very much!”
  • “You gave examples to make it more clear.”
  • “I really liked that you are teaching teens about this subject.”
  • “I like that you described different situations and the right way to get out of them.”
  • “I learned to trust my gut instincts and myself!”

NJ CAP is a RTC of the International Center for Assault Prevention. It partners with state, national and worldwide prevention advocates.
