What do you do when you don't like a popular YouTuber that has views, whether it be on a political subject or something that adheres to you such as a video game or a movie, that you consider warped and ones that you disagree with, contradicting the point of why you subscribed to them in the first place for the content from them that you like instead of what they think? You whine like a little bitch, finally tuning them out and listening to what they have to say for the last time by commenting the following two golden words: "I'm unsubscribing!". This clever tactic deployed by fellow YouTube users gives off the false impression to them that other fans, plus the YouTuber in question, will miss them in the chance that they do unsubscribe, and that their opinions were even worthy of relevance anyway. This also happens on other social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.
Everyone who does this will hopefully realize that you do not have to announce to the whole world that you are no longer being associated with that person by not watching their videos, and not reading their tweets or statuses any longer, and it's something that nobody cares about. Doing stupid shit like that will waste your time, and you will have publicly humiliated yourself in the process by thinking that somebody is going to BAWWW their eyes out by just one little person not watching their videos or reading their tweets/statuses any longer from that point on. It's a likely chance that the person in question has millions of subscribers or followers behind them anyhow, since there's also a chance that they worked hard to get to their state today, more than you ever will.
Why This Does Not Matter To You[edit]
Like the introduction stated, you have most likely already been established on the sites and therefore considered as a notable figure on the said site. People not watching your videos, not reading your statuses, or not looking at your tweets any more just because of one little opinion you made that they don't agree with is stupid, and whoever does that has the mannerisms of a fucking child. There is a possibility that they don't even know much about the subject that you're talking about, and it's best for them to move on, since they made themselves look stupid in front of the people who do indeed matter to you, the ones who stay and don't give a shit about what you have to say on a certain thing.
Look at James Rolfe, for a good example: most know him as the Angry Video Game Nerd but he made feminists infuriated as all hell by saying that he wasn't going to review a new movie in the Ghostbusters series, since they were quick to think that he was being sexist because the movie's cast featured all females, even though he had perfectly good reasons as to why he wasn't going to watch it based on the trailer that was released not long prior alone. He may have established himself on the site since most people know him by his character, but he is just an average person as the rest of the people who make videos on there on a daily basis. This all goes back to the point of the article: nobody's opinion matters much more than the other, and you are stupid if that's how you think you're supposed to act on the Internet.
E-Mail Sense[edit]
This tactic applies to e-mail as well. If you put your e-mail address out in the public or just have an e-mail address in general, there has no doubt been a point in your life where you have received a promotional e-mail that has been sent directly to your junk folder if you have a decent system that filters out anything like that. Rarely, one of more of them can go through your e-mail if they look legitimate enough. Fortunately, there will be a link to unsubscribe from a random newsletter or said promotional e-mail and then go throughout your day normally as if it didn't happen in the first place. Some of the junk e-mails that you would receive are so shitty and low-quality that they will not even bother to open the content in your client, or whatever site you're using for your e-mail.
The typical content seen in junk e-mails that make it desperate for you to unsubscribe or delete e-mails include:
- Penis enlargement pills
- You're LARGELY RELATED to this site!
- I am a Nigerian prince looking for you to work for me for money
