Tv Season Info

Season 12 of this fantasy drama picks up right where it left off, with Sam (Jared Padalecki) kidnapped by British Men of Letters member Toni Bevell (Elizabeth Blackmore); and Dean (Jensen Ackles) in shock at the sight of his mother, Mary (Samantha Smith), who's been long dead. Castiel (Misha Collins) is forced to partner up with Crowley (Mark Sheppard) to search for the vessel-jumping Lucifer, most notably played by guest star Rick Springfield. As Lucifer begins to possess more powerful and influential people to get what he wants, the hunters are forced to face the death of one of their own. While trying to stop Lucifer, the Winchester brothers are wrongly accused and arrested for his crime - leading Mary and Castiel to turn to an unlikely source to find them. Other notable guest stars include Rick Worthy and Alicia Witt.

Critic Reviews for Supernatural Season 12

All Critics (7) | Top Critics (0)

If there's one word that sums up season twelve, it's 'bland'. This isn't a bad season as such, it's just a boring one and the problem lies with the two main storylines that ran through it.

What is most troubling now... is that Mary Winchester was talking to Mick Davies about the British Men of Letters' plan for the United States: no more monsters. Great for everyone - sure - but at what cost?

All in all, this was a very solid season opener.

With the personal stakes raised like this, it's looking like this season will go back to the good old days.

Supernatural can wring as much entertainment out of smaller, subtler moments as it does bombastic ones.

Oct 14, 2016 | Full Review…

Supernatural is very much at ease with being a serialized story, but too often, each season can feel isolated from its brethren.

Oct 14, 2016 | Full Review…

Those who have traveled on "the road so far" will undoubtedly want to continue the journey, for Supernatural season 12 has no shortage of heart, intrigue, or emotional resonance and isn't afraid to be genuinely disturbing.

Audience Reviews for Supernatural: Season 12

The storytelling still remains absorbing and keeps itself on a constant motion for seasons to come.

A fantastic show with dynamic plot lines with spins on well known urban legends and spooks... From the first season, the chemistry between the characters & actors has been refreshing and believable; this is truly one of those shows that has the fuel to last for years to come! Great work from the cast & crew!!!

A letdown from the last season, Season 12 of Supernatural scrambles to cobble together a story and ends up coming up with a pretty good one (not great but good). Sam and Dean struggle to reconnect with their estranged mother who's returned from the beyond, and their relationship is further strained when she joins the British Men of Letters who have come to America seeking to form a partnership with American hunters; meanwhile Lucifer is on the loose and fathers a Nephilim that has the potential to bring about a new apocalypse. Unfortunately the new additions to the mythology cause some problems, particularly in regard to the Mary Winchester and Lucifer characters. Still, on the whole more is gained than is lost. And both Mark Pellegrino and Samantha Smith return to reprise their characters and deliver strong performances. While it starts out rather weak, Season 12 of Supernatural develops some interesting plot threads that hold a lot of promise for the future.

OMG THE BEST SHOW EVER!!!!!

it never stops being good. I've been watching since the beginning & although there's been some weak episodes, and weak characters (Mary, just die already), it still feels fresh and exciting for most episodes. sam and dean never fail, and the sense of humour helps. castiel and crowley are bonuses!

Season 12 The Brittish Men of letters vs Hunters, a Castiel centric episode with Castiel in a different vessel for a very short period of time though, Lucifer finds a purpose and a awesome character development episode with a nice twist "Stuck in the middle with (you)" also a SHOCKING finale! great season! Awesome Series! In my opinion ITS THE BEST TV SERIES EVER! It has EVERYTHING That I LOVE in a TV. show or movie! It has a beautiful epic story. AMAZING Characters, it even has Comedy that just adds to the fun. And its action and suspense is so cool! Its just awesome my whole family loves it and it makes me so excited for every episode its my favorite thing to watch on TV by far! Oh, man I wish it could last forever! Hope that "Wayward Sisters" spin-off lives up to this masterpiece! Thank You creators, writers and everyone involved in "SUPERNATURAL" you are awesome! CARRY ON! I will love this show forever and I re-watch every episode whenever I can! I LOVE Supernatural and the SPN Family you guys rock! I also collect the cool books and stuff because I'm a super nerd for it. : ) I wish I could Give it 100 STARS!! It should have earned a oscar or something for how well it was made! I RATE IT 100,000 stars and UP!

This entire season just beats a dead horse with reused concepts and ridiculous plots, throwing in yet another pointless villain.

they fight demons, stop the apocalypse, then fight with angels, then lucifer. They met God. End of story! But no way. Now they fight with british "men of letter", like human vs human. What's next? they become GOD. Stop it please !

One of the best shows on TV. These actors also go above and beyond to raise money for good causes.

12th season and still the best show!
