About ICPC

The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is a multi-tier, team-based, programming competition operating under the auspices of ACM and headquartered at Baylor University. The contest involves a global network of universities hosting regional competitions that advance teams to the ICPC World Finals. Participation has grown to several tens of thousands of the finest students and faculty in computing disciplines at almost 3000 universities from over 111 countries on six continents. The contest fosters creativity, teamwork, and innovation in building new software programs, and enables students to test their ability to perform under pressure. Quite simply, it is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious programming contest in the world. ICPC Foundation is the Global Sponsor of this event. The other sponsors includes JetBrains(ICPC global programming tools sponser) and Codechef.

About Gwalior-Pune Regionals

ABV-IIITM Gwalior and IIIT Pune are jointly hosting this year's ICPC Asia Gwalior-Pune Regionals under the auspices of ACM. ICPC Asia Gwalior-Pune Regionals 2018 is an Asian-level Contest. Teams across Asia can participate in this contest. Teams qualifying in the online contest advance to participate in the on-site contest and the winners of the on-site contest are eligible to participate in the world finals.

ICPC Asia Gwalior-Pune Site Selection Criterion for the onsite contest

116 best first-ranked teams from different Institute/University (one team (highest ranked) from 116 Institute/University ) :

09 best second-ranked teams from Institute/University

02 teams from host Institutions (one each from both host Institution)

Total: 127 Teams for onsite Contest

Note: Based on the location preference given by the team (will be asked only from selected online contest teams) and the team rank in the online contest, 51 teams will be chosen for IIIT Pune, and 76 teams will be chosen for ABV-IIITM Gwalior.

FAQs

Q. Can I register without a Coach?
A. No, it is not possible to register a team without a coach, for more information click here.

Q. Is it possible to have a person from the industry appear as a coach?
A. No. As per the ICPC rules, it is compulsory to have a faculty member from the institution as a coach for the team.

Q. Can I use my personal laptop to attend the online or onsite contest?
A. No. It is not permitted for the onsite round, but you can use your personal computer to participate in the online round.

Q. Can a team participate in the Online or Onsite contest with less than 3 members?
A. No, it is not permitted. A team should consist of 3 members and one reserve member. Also, a team can only have one coach per team.

Q. Is it necessary to have the all team members from same institution?
A. Yes, A team should always be affiliated with one institution. So, there cannot be members from different institutions in one team.

Q. Is there any registration fee?
A. The registration fee is INR 900 per team for the online contest and for the teams that qualify to the onsite round, the registration fees is INR 3000. The registration fee for foreign teams is USD 250.

Q. Maximum teams allowed?
A. As of now, the maximum teams for the online round has been restricted to 1000. From those teams, only 125 teams will proceed to the onsite round, based on ranking and college quota after the online round.

Q. Method of payment?
A. Teams can pay through online remittance.

From Gwalior Junction Railway Station ABV-IIITM is 8km away from Railway Station. You can easily get cabs or public transport.
From Gwalior Airport ABV-IIITM is 11km away from Airport. You can get cab.

How to Reach IIIT PUNE

Temporary campus of IIIT Pune is located in Sidhant college of engineering, Vill- Sudumbre, Talegaon-Chakan Road, Tal-Maval. The nearest local railway station is Talegaon which is 8km far and nearest bus stand is Dehu Gaon which is 5km far.

From Pune Junction Railway Station Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Pune is 37km away from Pune railway station. You can reach Talegaon (the nearest local railway station) from Pune station via a local train. The frequency of local train is one hour. From there you can reach campus by taking cab or local transport. The approximate price of cab is Rs.100 from Talegaon station to IIIT Pune.
From Pune Airport Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Pune is 36km away from Pune airport. You can reach campus by taking cab from airport to IIIT Pune via Dehu-Alandi Road. The The approximate price of cab is Rs.600 to Rs. 700.
