CAHA CREATES CRISIS Junior CanadiensCan't Play in OHA I 1 1 I kitchener, ont. (CP) - a weekend decision of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association has created a major crisis in the affairs of the Ontario Hockey Association Junior A | group, it was learned here Monday. Some time ago the OHA junior council accepted Montreal junior Canadiens as a sixth team to replace Toronto Marl-boros who have withdrawn to form a six-team junior metro league in Toronto. CAHA president Jack Roxburgh of Simcoe, Ont., said Monday the CAHA cannot permit the Montreal team to play in the OHA. He cited regulations, renewed and enlarged at the last CAHA annual meeting, which requires clubs to compete in leagues in their own branch.HAMPSHIREPARTNERSHIPPAYS OFF SOUTHAMPTON (Reuters)-A fourth-wicket partnership of 81 by Henry Horton and Peter Sainsbury enabled Hampshire to lead the Australian cricketers by 148 runs with two second-innings wickets in hand at the close of play Monday on the second day of their three-day match here. Lloyd Pollock of Windsor, OHA president, made a verbal application at the weekend for the admission of the Montreal team to the OHA. He said Monday the CAHA attitude would prove most disturbing to the Junior A clubs. Roxburgh said it would not be possible to move the Canadiens, who are made up of Quebec branch players, en masse to Ontario because of rules restricting branch-to-branch transfer. If the junior series does decide to operate independently, the protection of CAHA cards against player raids by clubs from outside Canada would be forefeited, Pollock saiti. That would make the players open to offers from the U.S. and Europe, without the need of releases. In Ottawa general manager Sam Pollock of Montreal Junior Canadiens said Monday that despite the CAHA stand, everything possible will be done to add the Quebec team to the OHA group next season. Pollock said the Kitchener meeting expressed only an opinion and that this opinion would become official only after ratification by the full CAHA executive.;
