Racist Links Stripped Down by Google

GoogleAs has been officially confirmed, search engine giant Google has agreed to strip down links to a website which seems to promote racist views against the indigenous Australians.

Steve Hodder-Watt, an aboriginal man, recently discovered the site when he Googled the words "Aboriginal and Encyclopedia". He tried to edit the information on Encyclopedia Dramatica, which is a satirical and extremely racist version of the popular encyclopedia, Wikipedia, but was not allowed to do so.

That was when he took legal action, and Google went ahead and acknowledged its legal responsibility to ensure that such offensive content is removed.

While stressing that the site was "one of the most offensive sorts of racial vilification you could possibly find", Mr. Hodder-Watt's lawyer George Newhouse, said, "It portrays indigenous Australians in the most unsavory light possible, and you wouldn't want a child stumbling across it".

Although the links to this site will be removed soon, there are many other similar portals, and the Federal Government is thinking about adopting stricter regulations as far as the content displayed online goes.
