Ogma:- From the ancient Celts - the God of eloquence, inspiration, language, music, physical strength, & poets

"The Art Of Mowgan Audio"

This is where it all began, a powerhouse of a loudspeaker, this has everything you could want. Sonically it takes the best of the Mabon and improves on it further. Using the same custom made midrange driver and augmenting this with a custom made 12" bass driver and superb dual ribbon tweeter, the Ogma delivers music as it was meant to be heard. The power and and soul of the music is laid before you from below 30Hz to around 60KHz it presents you with the full gamut of frequencies. However this is not just a technical wonder, it is designed and built with the sole purpose of delivering music at believable volumes and realistic scale to you, in your home, when you want it.
Words cannot convey the potential that this speaker has to allow you to realise the very best in music reproduction............at any cost

Some history

It became clear very on in the development of Mowgan Audio that we had two choices we could develop our own set of drive units or we could play the same game as many other manufacturers and pick and choose "off the shelf" units and become just like a multitude of other manufacturers out there.

While we could have invested huge sums of money in developing our own, it would have been a huge development cost and steep learning curve for us here at Mowgan. We had neither the financial ability or the time to to fully learn the complexities of drive unit manufacture, we did however reach a compromise. From years of testing with off the shelf units we knew what the likely differences were likely to be when subtle changes were made to things like diaphragm geometry, motor construction and cone material . So we started with what we thought to be some of the best off the shelf drivers available today and we either worked with the manufacturer to amend these slightly to our own specification or we bought them and modified them ourselves. The results are clear to be heard in our range from the Artio up.

Technical Specification 3-way bass reflex with custom-made 12" bass unit. The bass and midrange units are custom made for Mowgan Audio by a leading drive unit designer and manufacturer. The dual ribbon tweeter compliments both bass and midrange drivers in performance and ability and was specially selected by Mowgan Audio for this project. The Ogma is available with internally mounted passive crossover or as an externally mounted crossover for future active connection at an additional cost.

Technical Specification The crossover is the heart of any loudspeaker system, while it would not be true to say that a crossover could make a bad driver sound good, it would be equally true to say that a wrongly designed crossover could make the best drivers available today sound terrible.

We at Mowgan spend the majority of our time on the crossover design this not only has an impact on sound quality but also how it behaves on the supporting amplifier. Avoidance of huge phase swings and impedance swings helps dynamics and timing across the frequency range, while the crossover components themselves can affect sibilance and dynamic behaviour under high volume use.

A little understood factor is the Cabinet design. We use the latest in CAD software to do frequency distribution across the cabinet bracing sections, we then confirm this by using accelerometer measurements to ensure the minimum of additional sound entering the room.
