Fashioned in the spirit of Ambrose Bierce's The Devil's Dictionary, Encyclopedia Dramatica's purpose is to provide a central catalog for the e-public to view parody and satire of drama, memes, e-pals, and other interesting happenings on the Internets. All are welcome, as long as you read and agree to the General disclaimer. The only real requirement is to create an emailconfirmed account to edit articles. ED doesn't support anonymous editing. (IP addresses)

• Got a lulzworthy subject you feel needs to be written about? Submit it to the Needed/Proposed page and someone might pick it up. Make sure you check to see if there's already an article about the subject first.

• Patrol recent changes to see what others are doing.

• Ask questions at the Thizzlehat Junction Center.

Writing

• Write an article. This is the best thing you can do for ED.

• Check the Bad New Articles portal to see if there's anything that ought to be expanded or cleaned up.

• Check the list of wanted articles. This is automatically generated when two or more pages contain links to a page that doesn't yet exist.

• Expand on stubs.

• Rewrite crappy articles.

• Review random page.

• Suggest Good New Articles and Bad New Articles.

• We're always in need of Article of the Now and Quote of the Now suggestions.
  • Picture of the Now and Video of the Now are also nice.

• Forum members should highlight good threads.

Images

• Add images to articles, or upload better versions of wanted images. Make sure you give your image a detailed name instead of a bunch of symbols or numbers so search engines can actually find them and link to them easier.

• Browse though unused images and files and find homes for them. Do not delete or put death notices on duplicate images, use the {{duplicate}} template instead.

Maintenance

• Eliminate dead-end pages by adding links to other articles, preferably lonely ones.

• Categorize articles. We have a list of existing categories and a list of uncategorized articles. To add an article to a category, click that page's edit link and at the bottom of the entry, type [[Category:'''(name of category)''']] and click "Save Page." Use the "Show Preview" button to make sure you typed a category that exists (red links mean you failed). Do not create new categories.

• Rotate a Portal. Seriously, this would be highly appreciated. The goal is to have each one changed once every two weeks or so. Anyone can do this.

Butterknife was saying he didn't see how I'd connected POM/Yellowbird to failed terrorist Peyton Pruitt. There were enough clues on EDF to be fairly confident.

The moment he brought up the mole to defend himself (he said Peyton doesn't have it), that was the first thing I noticed and assumed the image was mirrored (because my own phone is prone to flip my photos when taking a selfie). It's not really the mirror doing the distorting, it's the fact that the camera is "looking up" at him. His jaw appears bigger (because it's closer) and the top of his head appears smaller (because it's further away). I don't know enough about smartphone camera lenses to draw any further conclusions.

But that foreshortening effect, plus three years and a home-made buzzcut, accounts for the potato-head on the EDF pic of the sonofabitch. He's a weird lookin mofo anyway - if you google for pictures of Pruitt, you will find it hard to believe that they all depict the same person. But that dribble-lipped mouth and the moles are as good as a fingerprint.

Here's a (very very) rough attempt to cancel out the sharp perspective. It's slightly misleading because you're still looking up his nose and at the underside of his jaw); and his mouth has stayed big and his eyes stayed small (those original perspective effects would take a lot of shooping to fix). Also, bear in mind that he was 18/19 in the Esquire pic and 21/22 in the EDF pic, so his face will have broadened and filled out a bit in the interval.

It's easier to perform the adjustment in your mind's eye than it is to replicate it via photomanip. Anyway, hopefully this clarifies things a tiny bit, rather than confusing them even further.

They aren't the same person. I just got PoM/Yellow to send me another pic of himself and it pretty much proves beyond any doubt that he's not this Pruitt retard. Peyton has what appear to be some seriously fucked up teeth as seen in one pic of him smiling. PoM, on the other hand, still has relatively nice teeth by Alabama standards.

• For what it's worth, I consulted Betaface, and its artificial intelligence suggests that it's a 67.1% likeness based off Sidecar's photos, meaning they are likely not the same person (compare two different photos of yourself on it and you'll nearly always get > 90%).

The A.I. facerecognition doesn't work due to the various compositional differences (angle, lighting, ageing, contrast, and one image is monochrome and the other one is reversed ffs). This tech is currently so unreliable that it's not worth the time and effort.

As for GirlOnInternet's dental deductions, they are wrong, and here is why the comparisons prove my identification! (View as slideshow)

That gallery didn't take any time or effort at all by the way. The explanation was clear the instant I saw GOI's original pics.

The front two incisors are not clear enough (in POM's reversed pic) to compare. Even if another photo could show that those incisors don't match, it would prove nothing because America is the homeland of cosmetic dentistry.

Sorry to disappoint, but I wasn't aware of any rumor that POM was Pruitt. I got some big and helpful clues about POM from EDF but didn't get a name.

If I'm wrong about POM using a mirror to take his "dindunuffin" photos, and you are (as you indicate) in touch with him, ask him to post a new photo of himself holding a copy of the day's newspaper at chest height.

FTR I have officially given up on pursuing this one. It's too confusing, and nothing anyone says about it can be trusted (well, duh, it's from EDF). The only way I could 100% satisfy myself that they aren't the same person would be to meet both of them in person at the same time.

Also FTR, and as my closing statement on this whole thing, I followed up that "probably edited" detection result (above). It meant the photo had definitely been through editing software, but the detection software couldn't tell what had been done to it.

So I put the 1st new POM photo through an image forensics program. The luminance (brightness) element of the photo appears to show that the picture is composed of two layers. The foreground layer (hand + newspaper) and the background layer (POM's face + body) seem to be lit from opposite directions. The paper and hand are lit from the right; and the rest of the photo from the left.

Additionally, there's what appears to be a sudden, sharp, and bright cropmark where the hand cuts in front of the face (there is no sharper or narrower edge in the whole photo), and the shadow of POM's head on the wall behind him appears to have a hole in the middle.

This could be hard evidence that the original photo was indeed taken while looking in a mirror. It was then apparently split into two layers, with one layer (the newspaper) flipped L-R to make it readable again, the other (POM's head and face) left reversed (and then slightly retouched for some reason). Hence two apparent light sources, in two separate and very distinct zones of the photo.

But then I realized that this road leads to the nuthouse, so I went "lol, internet" and you can make of these findings what you will. I wash my hands of it.

wiki software requests

• does anyone else have any wants/needs/suggestions? there were some on an old TJC page that weren't possible at the time but maybe now that we have an updated MediaWiki we may as well make use of that kind of stuff. -hipcrime 21:34, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
