As the precursors continue to roll out, New Mexico Film Critics Association also unveiled their selections on Sunday night.

The NMXFC chose “Blade Runner 2049” as their Best Picture of the year in a move that continues to spread the Best Picture praise around. The group chooses a winner and a runner up in each of their categories. It is the first win for the sci fi sequel. Their runner up was Greta Gerwig‘s widely praised “Lady Bird.”

Those praises would be reversed for the Director prize, with Gerwig claiming Best Director and Denis Villeneuve chosen as the runner up.
