MOSCOW, August 12. /TASS/. The antiaircraft missile regiment based in Crimea has received an S-400 Triumf air defense missile system that will be used in the upcoming Caucasus-2016 strategic maneuvers, the press office the Southern Military District reported on Friday.
"The antiaircraft missile regiment of the 4th Air Force and Air Defense Army of the Southern Military District based in the Republic of Crimea has received a modern S-400 Triumf air defense missile system for operation," the press office said.
"After the preparations are over and the rearmed regiment is redeployed, it will take part in the Caucaus-2016 strategic command and staff exercises," the district’s press office said.
It was reported in mid-July that a new regiment set of the S-400 air defense missile system will be delivered to Crimea in August.

The S-400 Triumf is the newest long-range antiaircraft missile system that went into service in 2007.
It is designed to destroy aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles, including medium-range missiles, and can also be used against ground objectives.
The S-400 can engage targets at a distance of 400 km and at an altitude of up to 30 km.
The Russian Armed Forces are expected to operate 16 regiments armed with S-400 antiaircraft missile systems by late 2016.
