It's been a challenge for me about making an assumption or cold reading the other person upon making a first impression or meeting them again.
What I just usually do is just reaffirm what they've said into something like "Yeah you seem like that type of person..." Not really cold reading.

So I have a "friend" (it's complicated) that always takes forever to text back. I'm talking like 1-3 days - and sometimes they never text back at all. I believe they still want to maintain a friendship with me, but they're busy and lose track of communications easily.
What I WANT to tell them is "look, if you want to be friends with me, then you've gotta put some effort into this and actually text me back in a reasonably timely manner". But obviously, that would just make them defensive and push them away.
How can I make them want to change their behavior, and ultimately become a better friend?
