Business booms over Area 51 hype

BOULDER CITY, NA (WILX) -- It's all fun and games until you accidentally incite a mob of people to raid a top-secret military base.

The internet has been buzzing with excitement about a Facebook event called, "storm area 51, they can't stop all of us."

It was supposed to be a joke, but now some people are really considering visiting area 51 in southern Nevada.

"I'm an alien freak or alien nut," Kosmic Kae said.

He's all about the extraterrestrial and so is his store.

"A lot of response to this one," Kae said.

The store is filled with alien books, alcohol, even alien hot sauce, but now his shop, Alien's R Us, at the Flying Saucer in Boulder City, is picking up business.

"It's starting to increase and people just want to know what's going on," Kae said.

All because of a joke that went viral on social media to "Storm Area 51." It's a place that's more than 170 miles away from his business--still it's what is on everyone's mind.

"It's something that people fantasize about."

"Aliens. That spills over to us," Kae said.

Now Kae is gearing up for more "alien activity"-- as in customers.

"People are just hungry for information not only about Area 51, about aliens," Kae said.

He's even made maps helping guide people planning to road trip along the extraterrestrial highway--

"It has a detail description of what highways to take," Kae said.

To the the UFO capital of the world.

"Because people are curious about aliens."

We do want to remind people, it is illegal to trespass or try to enter Area 51.
