The percent of seniors who receive services in their own homes has increased.
To help track progress, counties similar in population size are grouped together and called a "cohort." Cohort 5 includes the largest Minnesota counties by population and served the highest percent of seniors in their own home.
This measure shows that seniors can receive services at own home instead of moving to customized living or other residential settings. When services are provided at home, people have control over their environment, which promotes independence. It is important because home and community-based services are less expensive to provide when people are at home.
This measure includes seniors who receive support services at home through the Elderly Waiver (EW) or Alternative Care (AC) program. The services may include homemaker, home delivered meals, supplies and equipment or homecare services.
A higher percent means more seniors receive services in their homes instead of residential settings such as customized living.
The number of seniors on EW and AC programs who receive services at home divided by the total number of seniors served on EW and AC programs.
