He Ipu Ka‘eo was created to direct you to valuable resources available to Native Hawaiian students seeking post-secondary education; both college and career training programs. See below for information on scholarships, financial aid resources, and student support services.
The following scholarships are administered by the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation. Visit Hawaiʻi Community Foundation Scholarship Manager for details about each fund and specific requirements.
For college juniors, seniors or graduate students of Hawaiian ancestry.
For Maui County residents in recovery from a mental health, behavioral or psychological disability, who are pursuing a traditional or vocational education program.
For women of Hawaiian ancestry pursuing a major in one of the following fields: health, science or education (includes counseling & social work).
For students who are residents of Kaua‘i or Ni‘ihau Island. Preference given to current Ni‘ihau residents or Kaua‘i residents who are one or two generations removed from Ni‘ihau Island and to students who are proficient or fluent in the Hawaiian language.
For students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree with a preference for women of Hawaiian ancestry that identify as LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and/or transgender) and have participated in community service, club and/or high school athletics.
For Native Hawaiian students that were born and currently reside on the island of Hawai‘i.
For Pacific Islander students, including Hawaiians, who have completed at least one year of college, “stopped out” for at least one year, and are now returning to actively pursue a college degree.

There are several types of financial aid, including grants and scholarships, work study and loans. Financial aid awards may include a combination of these types of aid. Kealaikahiki Native Hawaiian Program promotes student success while being responsive to the indigenous culture of Hawaiʻi. The Kapoʻoloku Program for Native Hawaiian Student Success exists to ensure that Kapi’olani Community College (KCC) programs and services are equitable for student of Hawaiian ancestry. The program provides a solid foundation for students by reinforcing the importance education by promoting personal growth and development within the social, community and cultural contexts of Hawai’i’s history.
