  2. Can’t complain, though would have been nice to win our first two games a bit more emphatically. Lots to be encouraged about. Kids look great. Pépé getting sharper. Luiz good. Ceballos outstanding—the midfielder we have needed all these years. Pay whatever it costs, Raul.

Tlaib's case is a symptom, not a cause. It merely forces the Democrats to confront reality: their talk of "shared values," always a flawed concept, rings utterly hollow a decade into the Netanyahu era.

That consensus only exists because, for many years, a lot of Democrats have been willing to ignore political trends that have made Israel the kind of illiberal democracy that would exclude members of Congress for their political views.

One thought on l'affaire Tlaib: It's odd that so much of the American commentary on this is framed as advice to Israel, "reverse this decision or you'll fracture the bipartisan consensus."

In refusing to visit the West Bank under these humiliating conditions, Rashida Tlaib exhibits a quality her adversaries conspicuously lack, namely dignity - and an inheritance they're likely unaware of, "sumud."

stuff I learned about Greenland today: 1. Narwhals are big there. 2. Ice covers 77 percent of it — but it's melting, fast. 3. There's a U.S. air base on the island. 4. Photos of the place are stunning. Learn more and see aforementioned photos here:

There's already Gallup polling on whether the U.S. should buy Greenland: (It's from February 1946, though.)

Nationalists are everywhere the same: flag fetishes, chauvinism, vulgarity, conspiratorial & imagined histories, cults of personality, loathing for any kind of difference. They obsess over their supposed “uniqueness” but are just clones w/ inverted color schemes.

    1. Confirmed. 2. I am meeting with increasing numbers of members of Congress who peel away from AIPAC junkets. 1/2 day in E Jerusalem, Hebron the AIPAC narrative collapses. Not all act on it, all are transformed. 3. PS. I've also done geopolitical briefing tours for AIPAC staff

Good for you Congresswomen! No one should be forced to forfiet their right to free thought and expression for the right to see their family. Israel forcing such a choice on you and anyone in unconscionable.
