2K Games Office Damaged in Fire

Weekend blaze may "seriously impact" the publishing division.

According to a blog posting by 2K Games' Jason Bergman, the office building in New York City's SoHo district which houses 2K Games, Global Star, and Joytech was damaged in a fire over the weekend.According to ABC News, the fire began at 10 PM Saturday night and quickly escalated to a five-alarm blaze. In his post, Bergman reports that the executive section of his office was particularly damaged. While Rockstar and Take-Two headquarters are located elsewhere in the city, Bergman guesses that the fire will "seriously impact" 2K Games.A spokesperson for Take-Two clarified that the fire "significantly damaged" the marketing and administrative areas of 2K Games. No one was injured in the blaze. Game development, release schedules, and publishing are not affected by the fire.Though Take-Two's Rockstar division handles big-name franchises like Grand Theft Auto, the 2K Games label is home to hot titles like Civilization IV and next-generation games like Prey and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.Representatives for the company were not immediately available for comment.According to Bergman, the office is also a "veritable art gallery," housing works by Andy Warhol, Damian Hirst, and an original piece by Keith Haring.
