posted on by Alex Mateo

Crunchyroll Expo announced on Friday that it will host four cast and staff members from the Zombie Land Saga anime at this year's convention. Kaede Hondo (voice of Sakura Minamoto), Asami Tano (voice of Saki Nikaidō), composer Yasuharu Takanashi, and MAPPA's CEO and producer Manabu Ohtsuka will appear at the convention. They will participate in a panel to discuss the series and analyze some of the anime's scenes.

In addition, staff announced that Toei Animation will host a double-feature presentation of the Dragon Ball Z: Bardock - The Father of Goku special and the Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn film at the convention. Dragon Ball Z: Bardock - The Father of Goku debuted in 1990, and Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn premiered in 1995. Funimation released both works on home video.

MAPPA, Avex Pictures, and Cygames' Zombie Land Saga anime premiered in October 2018. Crunchyroll streamed the 12-episode series as it aired, and Funimation streamed an English dub.

The anime follows Sakura Minamoto, who dreams of being an idol, but is hit by a car and wakes up as a zombie. A man named Kōtarō Tatsumi appears and tells her he's recruiting her into an idol group made up of zombies, dead girls he has "recruited" from several eras of Japanese history.

Munehisa Sakai (One Piece Film Strong World, Suite Precure, Sailor Moon Crystal) directed the anime at MAPPA. Shigeru Murakoshi (Kakegurui, Garo -Vanishing Line- episode scripts) was in charge of series composition. Kasumi Fukagawa (Persona 3 the Movie #1 Spring of Birth Assistant Animation Director) designed the characters, and Yasuharu Takanashi composed the music.

The anime is getting a sequel project titled Zombie Land Saga Revenge.

Crunchyroll Expo will be held at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in California from August 30 to September 1.
