Overnight in JBR”

My Fiancee came for a short visit in Dubai, first thing in my mind is he needs to see the best places in Dubai since it is his first time to see Dubai. I chose Sheraton because compared to other Hotel near by the location they are slightly cheaper than the others. And thinking Sheraton is a five star hotel so for sure our stay will be amazing. We arrived early for our check in around 1:30 pm and the room is till not yet ready. We went first to the Moods bar to have snacks and drinks while we are waiting for the room. After 30 mins they came to the Bar to inform the room is ready. The front desk guy RALPH is very accommodating, friendly and even upgrade our room in the Club room. In my excitement that our room is special we went immediately to see our room but the room is not what I'm expecting to see. The room is just like an ordinary apartment room. There is no such details, interior of the room is nothing but a disappointment, too old, a non smoking room but smells cigaretts

Nice hotel but not luxurious ”

Very good”

Dissapointed in general with the expectations created and the hotel itself. The breakfast was good and the staff excellent. However, the facilities did not cater to guests who expected a resort and for the price paid.

No chance this hotel is 5 star”

How this is a 5 star hotel I just don't understand , the bathroom condition is a joke so old fashioned , water pressure is so Rubbish , water starts to get cold after 2-3 showers , had cockroaches in our room , staff at the pool are so rude and bad mannered , told my kids they not allowed to play in the kids pool twice and luckily I was there the second time and gave the lifeguard a nice earful then he apologised , telling my kids not to make noise , they are under 6 and on holiday . Wifi not free in the room come on why hotels still charging for wifi I don't understand . Staff asked for 300 aed per night to upgrade which I decided to go ahead with then the other staff at the reception spoke in there language and my price suddenly changed from 300 to 5 per night , I then got angry and told him that your trying to cheat now and told him to just give me my original booking , he apologised and came back down to 300 . why is Dubai all about rinsing people ok for the rich but for the average person it's not good . Location of the hotel is good but not the best as it's still a good walk away from the beach and shops , pool area is great but the sun gets blocked at times by double tree Hilton which is a very big building facing Sheraton .

Great location with village walk and nice rooms, beautiful pool and garden area, attractive beach. Overall hotel staff was great, but the man at the reception was a little gruff and not as friendly. His attitude could improve.

Not a 5 star by my standards”

Always ask for sea view room with balcony, don't take any other room or you will be disappointed. Had to change room after first night because the room had no balcony, you cannot open windows and the A/C was smelling very bad as was the bathroom ( URINE STINK ). We got a room with balcony next day but the smell of urine was there too so we kept the balcony door open at all times, A/C was smelling bad in this room too. When booking and confirming the payment the hotel will charge you in EURO or Dollars without mentioning that they have special exchange rates in my case 4.25 AED for 1 EURO where the usual rates are somewhere around 4.6 or even 4.7 (on 28th of November 2012). Alley cats and birds all over the pool and outdoor dining area, not very pleasant... Pool gets no sun after 14:00 ( a building behind the hotel is blocking it), very noisy construction area environment. Food was very good, service too, friendly staff, trying to make the best out of this hotel that was once worth 5 stars I'm sure. Conclusion - for the price they are asking ( 1400 to 1850 AED per night ) I would NOT choose this hotel again.

room with a view - as promised ”

overall the hotel was lovely, easy to get around and good choice of eating places. the rooms are quite basic and the bathroom was a little old but everything worked fine. have to say the concierge desk was the best - they booked trips for us, sorted out money exchange (you cannot change travellers cheques outside of the airport)booked shuttle bus seats to the mall and car to the airport, all this made for a stress free trip.

Good location-good staff but poor internet connection”

Location ís good and the staff is friendly. However internet connection is terrible. We took many calls and hours to get to connect to internet. Every phone or laptop couldn’t connect and must call the staff. He need call the supporters. Turn off and turn on many time to restart the phone and laptop to connect to wifi or even LAN. Unbelievable for 5stars hotel with this type of internet connection.

Great location but old premises ”

The hotel has a nice location to enjoy the beach and the Walk I the evening. But the rooms are kind of old, small rooms, and moderate interior .
