Ole Miss is a very prestigous school with a strong football tradition that is respected throughout America. Coming from an African American southerner and one who is very proud of his southern roots and a student of civil war history Ive never understood how removing vestiages of history that many African Americans may find hurtful from an institution that serves the citizens of a state that is nearly 40 percent African American. Its definately apart of Mississippi history but its the equivalent of the University of Berlins mascot being the NAZIs and people not understanding why the jews have an issue with it. now beyond the issues black people have with it you are pretty much celebrating a group that wanted to destroy the country we live in today. in any other instant we would call it what it is (treason) but instead we call it heritage.

Youre right Ole Miss has a brighter bunch of athletes than usual. At a chess club at my school a economics profesor came to play. It turns out he had played football at Ole Miss before getting injred he went on and earned a phd in economics. Its good when a school goes for quality individuals like that instead of for the best athletes. since the whole James Meredith incident ive noticed they have become a nurturing academic institution for deserving black students.

Isn't it funny who ignorance is bliss, well considering that Colonel Reb, our past mascot, was based off of a black man. This man was not only beloved by the entire student body, but was a figure in the town of Oxford, Mississippi. He gave numerous tours of Ole Miss for incoming freshman, and was even given a special seat in the football stadium. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that there is a lack in research on this topic.

Wake up and realize that the color of our skin is just a COLOR. It has no reason to be even brought up anymore, these traditions that were founded upon this school that not only provided a sanctuary for both armies during the Civil War are TRADITIONS. When I have eaten at soul-food places, I find those type of items to be of lesser quality, over-cooked than when I can do for myself and my family. Post Reconstruction was a difficult time for the masses of African Americans. Racism was considered normal behavior for most Americans. The military provided income and hope for a better tomorrow in which Blacks and Whites fought against a common enemy. Whites saved the lives of Blacks and vice versa. Barriers were broken down due to stereotypes propargated by both races. It is sad to see that today we Americans have returned to the inhumane ideolgy of yesterday.

I think Laettner has the honor of being the last White American NBA All-Star as well (along with Tom Gugliotta).

Honestly, if he didn't appear so damn laid back all the time, people would have taken him more seriously. Bird played with a passion to win, Laettner did not. It was pretty obvious to everyone. Outside of that one time he stomped on a guy. That was pretty bad ass, but he never really showed that much passion in the pros.

I'm a big fan of White basketball, and international competition has shown that all-White teams with mediocre athletes are capable of beating the NBA blacks, but honestly, Laettner was a hard guy to root for.

The myth of greater black collectivism is one of the biggest in the race realist and ethnopatriotic circles. If I had to guess, I'd say it is owed largely to two factors; Randian anti-collectivism, and HBDist determinism. Race realists don't seem to want to admit that whites are naturally more cooperative and collectivist than blacks because they're recovering radical libertarians, or because they don't want to admit that nurture matters, or both.

I have some libertarian leanings, and I know nature is enormously important, but that doesn't mean I can't acknowledge that whites are far more collectivist and cooperative than blacks. Katrina: blacks fell upon one another like jackals, whites cooperated. Haiti: blacks fall apart, whites cooperate to rescue the basketcase blacks. Europe: cooperation; Africa: not so much.

The problem is a fundamental error generating code in race realist's heads. This error assumes that whites won't cooperate racially because they're naturally less cooperative than blacks, who seem to cooperate racially. If they'd go one level deeper, they'd see that refusal to cooperate racially is a white tribal identity marker that only proves whites' cooperativeness; they get the marching orders from the elite, and they obey like good little tribesmen. It's the same with white identity; part of white identity is that you don't talk about white identity. Doesn't mean it isn't there, far from it; practically every white person on the planet has their implicit identity shot all through with white tribal identity. The quickest way to alienate a fellow white is to violate his racial tribal norms (don't criticize darkies, don't talk about white club, don't challenge racial egalitarianism, don't criticize Jews, etc.).

Anyone who thinks blacks are less individualistic than whites hasn't been paying much attention to blacks. Sure, they display racial collectivism, but how long would that last in the absence of personal, individual benefits? Blacks know they can browbeat whites by racially angling them, but this breaks down immediately whites leave the room. It took Jews to set up the NAACP. In the absence of whites, blacks have relatively low solidarity, racial or otherwise. The entire history of black politics has been "Ima git mine." Just check out the "blacks in charge" section at Amren.

Whites racially outcooperated and outcollectivized blacks as a matter of course, right up until they got word from their authorities that the rules had changed. They still do outcooperate blacks, outside the racially taboo areas deemed out of bounds by the elite.

I think Semites and east Asians are significantly more collectivist and cooperative than whites. But I just can't buy blacks as falling into that category.

A black man has more talent and more determination to make the drive to the hole which is why basketball is more watched and admired by whites than it was in the 1950's. Pick and roll can only last for so long in a game and shooting from the outside can only last so long in a game. If watch blacks play ball in pros or in college you would see more drive and determination to drive it to the hole and do juke move along way because thats how the game is to be played. First of all I was being sarcastic about the Duke Lacrosse team and their little legal "problems". Anyone with common sense understood what happened from the beginning. The funny and sad thing is the white "educated" prosecutor couldn't figure it out. They requested an Asian or white stripper(prostitute) and agreed on a price with the Booker. When the two black chicks showed up and since this thing is a suckers game the agreed upon price was no longer applicable. The stripper turned prostitute proceeded to pull a shakedown. I've commented on this fascinating post over at my blog, since it hits on two themes I cover there. First, the contrast between white and black styles of basketball exactly parallels the contract between Aryan Man and Non-Aryan Man drawn by the Italian esotericist Julius Evola. I once illustrated this on my blog by contrasting a picture of Capt. Sullenberger with one of a negro football player dancing in the endzone; now I have a whole new sports metaphor to use!

Secondly, there are very precise historical and cultural reasons why white players are taunted as 'fags.' Cultures that value individual male achievement, 'masculinist' if you will, are less troubled by homosexuality than tribal, conformist cultures. Think Athens vs. Africa. A fact which should be emphasized more is the Social Realist aesthetic which is pronounced in the sculpture.
I am somewhat frightened by the Leninesque visage of MLK. Even more, I am bothered by the implications of this piece, which places an important time in American history in the strange hands of a Chinese national interpretation. I am not a chauvinist but the final look of the piece definitely recalls some work done to commemorate the completion of a dam in China or something similar. Quite odd.
But then again the Vietnam memorial is a very hostile piece as well, done by an Asian with weak-to-no credentials. On that work, my opinions are strong. First: it is an ironic "V" for victory.Defeat was the historically accepted outcome and the deaths of our combatants is celebrated. The "V" itself is a low angled one, resembling a sick or perhaps Satanic grin. Or perhaps the single chevron of a PFC; for after all we are in death's democracy.
Second,the earth, not the marble ( suitably a mortal black) is the setting; the earth of course is the destination of the dead. The monument does not lead us into the air, where in Western Civilization we feel the spirit has gone. These dead are only bodies to the artist.
Thus, this memorial is actually a representation of a mass grave. Perhaps we are actually not mourning here the American dead but rather the dead of an anonymous Vietnamese village destroyed by American shelling or bombing.
The dead are not even commemorated with the living in mind; they are not alphabetically arranged, which would convenience the visitors. Rather, they are arranged by date of death, as if to make the pain of the living and their shock at finding the sought-out name even more intense and the awareness of the futility of the war more clear. The visitor descends and ascends with no thematic meaning involved. This is also an affront to the living since it provides no release of emotion for having worked to find the name so dreadfully placed.
Ultimately I view this monument for what it is: a statement by the Establishment that this is what you get when you inconvenience the sons of the privileged in your stupid prole wars.

I really don't understand all of the crying, sensitivity, or "controversy" over this Columbus guy. I'm an avid reader and a fan of history, and despite all of this guy's "accomplishments" I find his story very boring and irrelevant to my life. Besides, he wasn't even an American.

I have never heard King mentioned as a republican, but I do not doubt that such claims have been made by black conservatives to bolster their own image. His famous speech was certainly Randian in nature, but not consistent with the quota system that has become the rallying cry of feminism. In addition to a sexualized perception, being a black man and all, King is really a feminist's perfect catch.

It is difficult to glean the humbling "facts" about King's private life, as they are still mostly passed along exclusively amongst overt white racists. Still, this is a stark contrast to fashionable public opinion of Columbus, who has no shortage of defamatory commentary each October. So much for Columbus to apologize for after 500 years, yet 40 years has scrubbed clean the MLK legacy.

As Columbus grows in infamy, so too does MLK ascend to sainthood. Hallelujah!

Perhaps you're right, I may have misread the Ayn Rand entry. The problem I have with that entry (and even the mention of her name) is two fold or more; 1) Ayn Rand represented things most Whites don't stand for. 2) Ayn Rand wasn't White to begin with.

Law & Order is full of racial revisions. There was a case of blacks getting chineese food a long time ago, they beat the deliveryman to death. L&O made it a bunch of yuppie white kids out for a thrill. Look at the Alarm commercials, every home invasion is a white guy. They may exhibit violent criminality, but there is nothing intelligently sinister about them. Thus we don't really take them seriously as threats.

Our sense of pity allows Black people far more leeway than we give to each other. It isn't white passivity or apathy – its more akin to resigned fatalism.

What's with all the usage of this word 'hate'? If a beaver moves away from a skunk's territory does that mean the beaver 'hates' skunks? If I call a man out for stealing my family's fortune does that imply 'hatred'? Stay away from me. Stay away from my daughters. There is no hate in that statement. My family is 100% black and we enjoyed the movie also. Also I believe there is a Jewish person in this movie. Hocus Pocus is truly a white movie. At last count I only spotted two negroes in it, both extras in the scene where Bette Midler performs at the Halloween party. But there is something deeper in this movie besides the lack of dark hued faces.

Salem is 85.4% white. I love how the movie portrays the town as uniting as one to celebrate this special day. Everyone recognizes the traditions associated with the holiday and celebrates them. Of course, everyone knows Halloween is mainly for the kids, and Hocus Pocus does a fine job depicting the streets filled with children on an iconic, magical Halloween night. This is the very essence of culture, the transmission of tradition that perpetuates a healthy society. Non-white culture (with few exceptions) is degenerate and dangerous. White culture, especially as portrayed in Hocus Pocus, is healthy and wholesome. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of dressing up and trick or treating through the nearby neighborhoods. Such great times.

There are a couple of interesting scenes throughout the movie. One is when Max appears before his father with his baseball cap turned sideways and his father remarks that he looks like "one of those rapper guys." The more interesting scene is when Dani, a young white girl, is talking with Binx the cat and says that she'll take care of him until she's old and dies, then her daughter will take care of him, then her daughter, and so on. Such dialogue is refreshing and promising in that it shows a young white girl whom 1)is in touch with her motherly instincts and 2)is undaunted by the prospect of perpetuating her race and culture. Of course, in a few more years she'll probably start reading 17 magazine and Cosmo, start watching MTV, and begin to feel guilty about being white.
