 All / On "Sibel Edmonds"
Sibel Edmonds is no stranger to longtime TAC readers. I wrote an article exploring some of her claims back in January 2008, a blog item in August 2009, and Kara Hopkins and I did an interview with her for the November 2009 issue of the magazine. It was featured on the cover as “Who’s Afraid...
  • While I have no personal knowledge of the bulk of specific information contained in Sibel’s book–and I have not quite finished reading all of it myself–I can vouch from personal experience in general about the FBI’s language program’s incompetency and in general the FBI’s constant perceived need to pad time resources for purposes of budget. It wasn’t even considered fraud to manipulate the manhours being gathered for different crime and counter-intelligence programs depending upon what result was desired or necessary to project.

Omg, the true stories about language translators “going south” as we called it–not only not qualified in the language they were supposed to be translating, but sometimes going cahoots with the subjects! (I know of at least three instances like that.) An agent colleague I knew was assigned to monitor a foreign language for months that he/she had no proficiency in whatsoever!!

As a new employee, Sibel had not been “around the block” and slowly desensitized to the situation. Which is probably why the truth struck her so hard about some of the incompetence and cover-up.

Why? See my article “Secrecy Kills”: http://richblee.com/secrecy

It had to be worse at the CIA and other agencies! Don’t forget that two CIA agents and two FBI agents (Ivan Nicholson, Aldrich Ames, Robert Hanssen and Earl Pitts all of them at least mid-management) were identified as USSR spies, but only after years and years of successfully operating. FBI supervisors also got desensitized to operating “top echelon” mafia bosses for decades who themselves were murderers and criminals (Whitey Bulger and Scarpa are the two publicly known ones) with their crimes were covered up by the FBI. What’s publicly been exposed was only the tip of the iceberg.

  • To: William Leach, Aditya Barot and Carl Lowland, read the book and you’ll find your answers.
The harassment took many forms and has been confirmed by many other individuals and organizations, including the DOJ Office of Inspector General. She eventually published because she had the guts to assert her rights under her contractor agreement with the FBI, and had the help of a fine lawyer (Stephen Kohn of the National Whistleblowers Coalition).
Re: espionage by Turkey, including the theft of nuclear secrets, and even the bribery of a U.S. Ambassador- Amb. Marc Grossman (who later became an Under Secretary of State, who, though retired in 2005, has this past year served as the U.S. Special Envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan ), such espionage has been rampant, and subject to many active FBI investigations in the past, only to be squelched or covered up by higher ups in the Pentagon or State Department.

  • Thank you Mr Giraldi for a great review of an absolutely essential read.

Based on the consistently high level of her work, both in its precision and her analysis (and its impact) of the documents she translated at the FBI- and this is from the field agents she worked with- I would put great credence in her reconstruction of conversations. The fact that Congress never followed up, or demanded that her testimony and submissions become unclassified, is also evidence of Congressional complicity in the wrongdoing she uncovered and reported to the requisite Congressional committees.

Apart from the book, she is to be greatly applauded for founding the National Security Whistleblowers Coalition which includes 200 or so respected former members of the CIA, FBI, DEA and other government agencies related to national security, and for publishing on her online site http://www.boilingfrogspost.com which is entirely free of corporate financing, but is dependent upon the support of small donors. And, all of this, while enduring the harassment of the agency. Hopefully, the public will become aware of these efforts and will lend its support, financial and otherwise.

  • Anonymous • Disclaimer says:

I read the kindle book which is difficult to put down (switch off). I knew Sibel’s story from boilingfrogspost.com which I subscribe to and find one of the most believable sources of news on the internet, but the book fills in a lot of gaps.
    To say the book is shocking is an understatement. It seems that in her battle with the PTB Sibel “stumbled” upon something which Anthony Sutton explains in his book on Skull and Bones;

” The intellectual world is still locked into a phony
verbal battle between “left” and “right,” whereas the real struggle is the battle between individual freedom and
the encroaching power of the absolute State. In the West the
choice is basically between a controlled “left-oriented” information and a controlled “right-oriented”
information. The conflict between the two controlled groups keeps an apparent informational conflict alive.
Unwelcome facts that fall into neither camp are conveniently forgotten. Books that fall into neither camp can be effectively neutralized because they will incur the wrath of both “right” and “left”.
In brief, any publication which points up the fallacy of the Left-Right dichotomy is ignored … and citizens
keep trooping down to the polling booths in the belief they have a “choice”.

Let’s hope that Sibel’s book is not ignored but spread to the 4 winds of heaven for everyone’s enlightenment.

  • @Carl Lowland says:

“Bureaucracies don’t have to show a profit because it is illegal for American National Bureaucracies to make a profit. It’s time we stopped blaming government for not doing what it, by law, cannot do.”

Correct. “Making profits” is in the interest of private actors. It gives a handy way to judge their effectiveness and to perform economically rational calculation.

If bureaucracies are in danger of having “surplus budget” at the end of the year they try to spend it ASAP lest their budget be reduced the next. More forward-looking organizations engineer “underfunding” from the get-go.

Achieving internal rigidity, increasing their size and finding make-work schemes (generally solving the problems they have themselves created) is in the interest of bureaucracies. They have far less interest in actually fulfilling the tasks they have been nominally created for (even if they are active in “the market”, see publicly-owned telecom operators).

  • In a related vein, Peter Lance put out a book on serial loserhood, bureaucratic infighting and CYA way before 9/11, resulting in dots not only being not connected but being ignored for political expedience. I don’t know how much of it pans out (he hints at links that may seem improbable, in particular to Tim McVeigh), but it sure looks well-researched and documented. It also brings back memories of the delirium of the Clinton administration.

Triple Cross Timeline to 9/11 from 1981 to 2006

  • I have read the book and I believe every word. God Bless (and He will) all who bring this to the public.

Corruption is as American as apple pie. People refuse to believe how deep it runs and the extent to which people in high places participate in lawlessness. They do it because… that is how America works. Democracy is a fig leaf.. which hides this unaccountable lawless corruption.

Most people can’t or will not take it on. The forces arrayed are so powerful. Ms Edmonds has managed to be protected because she was so public, ethical and non partisan. They are trying to punish her by ignoring her and demanding her silence. It’s not working. Thousands of people get it and will not allow any harsh punishment than the corner time she’s been sentenced too. People in her position (there are very few) don’t have the fight that she has… and she does it with the pen not the sword… which is way more powerful as we all know.

There is little chance that the present system can right itself. The hope is that it founders from the weight of its corruption… and then a more democratic and just society can arise. The present virtually neo fuedal proto fascist state we live in is unsustainable. It’s just a matter of time. And were getting to the finish line at an accelerating pace.

Thank you for the book Ms Edmonds and Mr. Giraldi for publishing the review.

  • Some validation of her case by the government can be found here:

A review of the FBI’s actions in connection with allegations raised by contract linguist Sibel Edmonds: unclassified summary

    http://www.amazon.com/actions-connection-allegations-contract-linguist/dp/1234316765/

@Carl Lowland: Please read the review again. She was not a CIA employee. And the government has done a lot of damage to her. She has been cut off from her family and basically can never return to Turkey. She has been gagged about basic aspects of her life. Her own privacy has been destroyed. She has been monitored. Went through lie detectors. Had her personal computers examined, etc., etc. Most people don’t have the guts. Do you have the guts to even read it? I think you’re more scared than perspicacious.

Let me put it another way. She has said these things under oath, where she could be put in jail for perjury. You can watch her deposition in the Krikorian v Schmitd case in 2009 here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnrYIacu6hM

Now please think again about your uninformed gut reaction and have some respect for someone who has stood up against government corruption and suffered for it. Because it was the right thing to do.

  • Anyone who has had any dealings with any agency in which it’s motives and behavior’s can be called into question, are probably not surprised at the organization’s response — even so far as damaging an individual’s career, personal life and psyche’.

Spend time with government lawyers national, state and local, and you will discover that such tactics are policy to diminish or remove an employee whom they have wronged and now attempt to cover their tracks.

Several tears ago I used to listen to these stories with patient, and polite sympathy.

Not anymore. Fairness, ethics, integrity and truthfulness is not something bureacracies practice.

  • Tom

Correction Tom. Bureaucracies don’t have to show a profit because it is illegal for American National Bureaucracies to make a profit. It’s time we stopped blaming government for not doing what it, by law, cannot do.

FWIW, and in a similar field of inquiries, I’d recommand the work of Daniel Hopsicker, on the organized crime (notably heroin smuggling)/intelligence/rightwing (saudis, lebanese, israelis, german, GOP,…) environment in which the 9/11 hijackers moved through in Florida.

While his findings do not fundamentally change the 9/11 paradigm (Mr. Hopsicker is no “truther”, BTW), they certainly lay waste to the official “narrative” of an isolated bunch of arab “lone nuts” striking at the USA like a lightning bolt out of a blue sky, from an afghan cave.

What he hints at is more like a morass of decades of corruption(s), on an international (supranational?) level : rightwing networks going back from the days of the Kennedy assassination, to the iran-contragate and its related chapters in iraq, lebanon, lybia,… afghan war-era muslim extremists, lebanese businessmen/defense contractors, high-ranking pakistanese or koweiti officers, saudi princes, “privatized” military-intelligence assets bankrolled by oil money, CIA planes smuggling heroin, mob-owned casino boats,…

Mind-boogling, not because there’s a “he did it” arrow pointing at this or that person… but because it shines a tentative light on what looks like an hidden (but not so much) underbelly of systemic corruption and we-are-above-the-law behaviors.

And the hijackers were part and parcel of it, though seemingly minor players – in which case, 9/11 is not “blowback” nor even “just” an inside job, flase-flag operation, etc, etc,… but a case of the rot, real, willing corruption and structural incompetence, coming to the surface.

FWIW, and with a critical mind, it’s “conspiracy theory”, or investigative journalism, as you see it, but still.

  • To clarify, she self-published this book in defiance of threats from the FBI, and with no help from any publishing house.

    Got spine?

My only criticism of this review is that it relies a little too much on the word “incompetence”. In my view, most of the incompetence described in this book is actually defined as “competence”. It’s just not legal and should not be tolerated by the public.

  • Her allegations aren’t suprising since that is the way most Bureaucracies work. After all they don’t have to show a profit. Since they know the media is mostly going to ignore her claims anyway the agencies involved probably figure it will draw less attention to themselves than a campaign to silence her.

  • Sibel has faced constant threat from the FBI regarding this book. She was told that she couldn’t publish one word of it by them. She and her lawyers have received regular threatening letters from them, saying she isn’t allowed to publish one word. They did not give her a redacted version.

Most publishing houses either didn’t want to go up against the FBI or didn’t like how both parties were included; she was even asked to remove the last chapters and stop with Bush. Too bad for them, and I’m sure they knew it (but were too scared), the writing is captivating, content is ground-breaking and necessary. They’ll end up on the wrong side of history, as they dwindle into irrelevance.

Also, some “anti-war” types, who ended up with egg on their face, were actually mad at the “timing” of the book (before the election) and the inclusion of Obama. Shame on them, they know who they are and how their decision to kowtow to the PTB, in the form of lesser-evil servile deference, also will put them on the wrong side of history, as they dwindle into irrelevance.

The brush fire has begun. Thank you TAC and Mr. Giraldi, for your courage and leadership.

  • Thank you for the helpful replies.

As a one who was a member of the Naval Nuclear Weapons Program and a 30-year Telecommunications professional as well as an American who CAN trace his ancestry back to the Mayflower, I applaud Mr. Giraldi’s review and previous spotlight on Ms. Edmonds’ experiences. The term “kafkaesque” barely scratches the surface of what is, in the final analysis, a pattern of BI-PARTISAN governmental incompetence, mendacity and CYAism that not only boggles the mind but calls into serious question whether our two-party system of government ever truly CAN be reformed in it’s present structure. I have enormous respect for Edmonds’ and honor her struggle to hold the government to account and live up to it’s own high-blown rhetoric. That makes her As true a Patriot as Nathan Hale, John Dickinson or Patrick Henry.

  • Carl Lowland – – Your reasoning?

  • “…she speculates…”

Whistleblower or tabloid journalism from a former employee of the CIA trying to place blame for 9/11 upon the FBI and our elected officials, (but not the CIA), both sides of the isle….to sell a book? It’s the JFK assassination conspiracy theories all over again. With the entire Higher echelon of the United States trying to shut her up and they can’t do it? I’m sorry, but I won’t be buying into this one.

  • I’ve been following Sibel’s story for some time. It’s probably THE most important story which no US media will ever touch.

Interested parties should also check out her Web site Boiling Frogs:
    http://www.boilingfrogspost.com/

  • Thanks for this, Philip, along with your earlier excellent interview with her for The American Conservative. This stuff still shocks the conscience, and calls for further investigations and justice in a few areas.

  • William et al – I would not want to answer for Sibel, but I do know that when Kara Hopkins and I interviewed her in late 2009 she had decided to begin to speak out and was willing to face the consequences, whatever they might be. I do not know what the government has done to silence her since that time. To my mind, she has made some very specific and highly plausible claims about government malfeasance and incompetence that have not been responded to by either the Bureau or the Justice Department.

  • She is an American hero for braving the tyranny to make public these facts. I read her book a few months back and frankly, if she were living in, oh Pakistan, I would not be surprised if there was a drone with her name on it.

  • Interesting stuff, but Im not clear on how she is publishing this book if tge government is treating her as the article claims.

Yes. That occurrence could indeed raise an eyebrow or two, initially.

However, the author of the interesting stuff has himself provided something of a lapel-grabbing explanation, within the body of the essay, which provides all the heaven-opening clarity one needs: “There was no follow-up anywhere due to sheer incompetence…”

  • I have the same confusion as Mr. Leach here, but I would add that I have serious doubt about Turkey being a national secrets spy.

  • I agree. How is she publishing if she’s so oppressed?

  • she should flee to China or Russia, she would have more civil rights there, and i’m not being ironic nor sarcastic. Her problems only show that America is an imperial dictatorship, and the elites pulled a Julius Ceasar on us.

  • The fact is ANCA, an Armenian-American lobby is promoting Armenia first, USA last agenda: Make USA a puppet of Armenian interests, which is to one: ethnically cleanse Muslims out of Anatolia, demonize the Turkish race as a whole, plan a land grab which failed in WW1, create schemes to extort money out of insurance companies that did business with the Ottoman Empire. There is also an organization called the AYF, which stands for the Armenian Youth Federation, which is in reality the Armenian Hitler Youth Movement. The AYF teaches little kids Anti-Turkish racism, bias, bigotry, racial extremeism and supremacism, as well as fanaticism. Capitol Hill needs to also monitor the big 150 million dollar Armenian Medicare Fraud scheme which costed our taxpayers a great amount of money, as well as how American cities like Glendale, Burbank, Fresno, and Watertown are bases of Medicare Fraud, Credit Card Fraud, Insurance Fraud, and Fraud of the Welfare System. I even heard a former Armenian Consul General donated money to congressional candidates via fraud money, look up Ergun Kirlikovali’s writings and you will see what I mean. The Turkish lobbies and ATAA are only doing work through self defense from Greek and Armenian racist faschist lobbies that demonize everything Turkish, so much to the point that even Hitler or Satan wouldn’t do things as evil as what the racist bigoted Greek and Armenian lobbies are doing. Also, Wikileaks documents showed how Armenia gave guns to Iran, which gave the weapons to Iraq to kill USA soldiers. Armenians are putting Armenia first and Greeks are putting Greece first.

Not according to Wikipedia: “Returning to Wellesley for her final year, Rodham wrote her senior thesis about the tactics of radical community organizer Saul Alinsky under Professor Schechter (years later while she was First Lady, access to the thesis was restricted at the request of the White House and it became the subject of some speculation).[25]”

The fact that Hillary is in Obama’s cabinet is of as much concern. I don’t even know where to start about her and her husband’s criminality and their ties to the Bush family. Hillary should know as she stated as to why we don’t fix America’s drug problem. She said, “There is too much money in it.” As governor, Bill Clinton prevented investigation into GHWB’s CIA drug smuggling ring through Mena, Arkansas. As president, preventing investigation into Iran Contra drug smuggling was also his job. Kenneth Starr, GHWB, and Bill Clinton were all CIA. The whole investigation into the Clintons was just a show trial. It has been said that Bill met Hillary in the CIA. Only one of their bodyguards that worked with them in Arkansas is still alive, only because he already came out with a book about them. Obama’s plane over St. Louis that almost crashed was on loan from Hillary. A woman who was warned by Hillary not to speak of the things she saw at the governor’s mansion said that she had never been scared of anybody more in her life. Hillary has claimed that she will do “anything” to win. She studied Machiavelli for her thesis.

  • The essential message appears very clear in all of this discussion: a moratorium on all dual-Israel citizenship posts to Federal and diplomatic departments. The current crop of probable spies for Israel working in our government should be given lie-detector tests grilling them on questions related to ‘a loyalty oath’. AIPAC must be registered as a foreign government agent as President Kennedy valiantly attempted to procure. Outside of this or similar iron-clad actions, our military should step in and do the job that our congress is failing miserably at: to take our country back.

  • Why is she sending a nuke dealer to deal with one of his clients is what I want to know.

  • “I think Hillary trusts him precisely because he is corrupt. His experience in bringing Turkey & Israel together may be what she thinks she needs in AfPak, where everyone is on the take”

No surprise. Makes sense to me and I think for Obama as well or she wouldn’t have picked him for the position.

Looking at the history of Int’l politics one learns it may be even sleazier than the domestic variety. He may be the right man for the job. It seems to me that even if they believed it was true nothing he is alleged to have done would disqualify him as far as those who hired him are concerned.
We elect the politicians who appoint those they feel will best carry out there objectives, and Marc Grossman’s appointment seems to be an example of that policy.

  • Perle, Wolfowitz and Feith, to name just three, had run ins with the “authorities” about their relationships with the zionist enterprise. Nevertheless, under the Bush Administration, they were all appointed and confirmed to high profile and important foreign policy positions. The Bush’s practice of appointing folks with obvious conflicts of interest to senior foreign policy positions continues under Obama. I’d like to think that there is so much negative stuff out there on Marc Grossman that some of it will surface during confirmation hearings. But I’m probably being optimistic.

  • Is anyone surprised by this? There seems to be an utter blindness of the Clinton State Dept. to any whisper of impropriety when it comes to promoting and protecting what are surely her greatest benefactors.

  • Anonymous • Disclaimer says:

Phil wrote: “If she did not, she is guilty of gross dereliction of duty and might be responsible for placing a possibly corrupt individual in a position that is critical to the conduct of US foreign policy.”

The Clintons turned shakedowns of foreign interests and recent immigrants into an art form. This was really the only qualification she had for the position of Secretary of State. So “gross direlection of duty” is the least of our worries, and there is no more “corrupt indvidual” in our government than Hillary Clinton herself.

Before electing or appointing a Clinton to any given office, we should always ask ourselves how we want that office to SMELL afterward.

  • In addition, Marc Grossman was one of 15 high level U.S. officials who were going to be subpoenaed in a spying trial “to show they regularly gave AIPAC officials sensitive [i.e. classified] information with the full expectation that it would be passed along to Israelis and others.”

Some of the others: Condoleezza Rice; national-security adviser Stephen Hadley; Richard Armitage, former deputy secretary of State; William Burns, US ambassador to Russia; David Satterfield, former deputy assistant secretary of state and now head of the MFO in Egypt; Elliott Abrams, deputy national-security adviser; Paul Wolfowitz, former deputy secretary of Defense; and Douglas Feith, former undersecretary of Defense.

The trial, like almost all concerning Israel’s extensive spying on the U.S., was dismissed before more information was revealed.

  • The Feeble Bureau of Investigation looked at this guy for 10 years? I’d like to read that file – even they must have enough to make a case in there. But, BUT, one important thing everyone should remember is the FBI doesn’t decide if the case is filed, the US Attorney does. And the AAG tells the US Attorney what is a good case. And, the AG tells the AAG what is, etc. In other words, the investigators can do a very good job, get it all in a well-organized report, trot it over to the local DOJ & it can die there. A case at the level of Marc Grossman these days would go nowhere w/o the approval of likely the President. Remember, this guy worked for Cheney. No one wants him cutting deals for a lighter sentence. My prediction: if he isn’t on video he’ll never be charged. And if he is, then we have the judges . . . .!

I think Hillary trusts him precisely because he is corrupt. His experience in bringing Turkey & Israel together may be what she thinks she needs in AfPak, where everyone is on the take.

  • The MSM will ignore this as it has the other examples of treason on behalf of Israel and Turkey. Congressman Issa, let’s have an investigation.

  • What did Hillary do? If history is any guide, whatever she did was surely illegal. You can be sure she’ll lie about it too. Merely documenting this woman’s litany of whoppers over the years would require a multi-volume set in small print.

  • And, of course, PG, the late Congressman Tom Lantos was complicit with the Ambassador of Kuwait in fabricating the hoax during the build-up to the first Gulf War in 1991 about Saddam’s troops invading maternity hospitals in Kuwait and tossing out the newborn Kuwaiti babies in order to steal the incubators. It turns out that young “Kuwaiti woman” making those allegations (carefully not before a Congressional committee under oath) was, in actuality, the daughter of the Ambassador to the U.S. from Kuwait. All part of the propaganda campaign to portray Saddam not only as another Hitler but even worse.

  • I have memories of this whole interpreter business shortly after 9/11. It stunk to high heaven then and it stinks now. The part I remember best was the revelation that people with obvious ties to foreign governments were entrusted with sensitive positions. • @Tony Wicher: Thank you, sir. Very good advice, indeed. And I have passed it on many times over the last few years.
I may have misjudged when I made the deal with the owner of a local coffee shop in 2006; a very profitable deal for the both of us. I received 2 1/2 hours every Thursday to show videos and encourage discussion, and she received larger profits for her Thursday night. And she was very surprised in just how large an increase that was. And with my choices for the video portion, I rather expected that surprise. I chose: 9/11:In Plane Site, The Money Masters, 9/11 Road to Tyranny, “ect”… (Some of the material has never, and will never, be licensed for viewing in this country while it is still THIS country)
I only provide this as some form of explanation. I didn’t quit after I caught the Air Force (Air Force!?) hacking my box. I didn’t quit over the fist fights that broke out over the discussion portion of the presentations. However, when I realized that I had spread my message over the entire area (county only has 25,000), and still no one was willing to do anything to change things, I gave up.
The question is not rhetorical. I am fairly up to speed. And at a dead end. With the level of conditioning most folks seem to be subjected to… Even when they are faced with the facts, there is no ire! I left that project very dejected.
SO, what now? I’m not an advocate of violence; but I also served in the military. I felt a sense of civic duty, and they were kind enough to beat that out of me.
Less than 5% of the population of the colonies actually participated in the revolution. I do not propose that, as they were not faced with the weaponry our “civilization” has given us.
Any ideas? (As long as it doesn’t involve a foil hat…)

  • Mizgin, can you say more about why you think Susurluk is the key. Not that I disagree–just want to hear your thoughts.

  • Greetings, All… After watching this story oh-so-slowly evolve over the last few years, I’m left with just one question. What can we do about it? Petitions disappear, prosecutors won’t do their jobs for fear of losing either their careers; or worse, their lives, judges don’t want to see these cases in their courts, and the MSM stays silent. The corruption is too deeply entrenched for any real impact to come from anything we do.

There you will see military men, republican office holders, career intelligence folk(not a tie dye shirt or tin-foil hat anywhere) that have very serious question about the fairy tale we were instructed to believe.

That TAC is the pub. that carries this Sibel bombshell is wonderful. I think it bodes well for a future where the vast majority of Americans and earthlings can get past media created labels, stop letting them continue to use that old, decrepit divide and conquer bull spit….and come together for truth. With it we can solve ALL our problems. Without it we are toast.

How much of the intercepted information was Turkish agents gaming the FBI intel operation?

Could Turks have been using known tapped lines to feed false information into the FBI?

What better way to set up people who could not be ‘gotten to’ by other means that the Turks wanted to target for whatever reason.

  • An important story. Congratulations Philip, and TAC.

I had asked my federal congressman, from here in central Oklahoma (at a townhall meeting), to look into whether Israeli spies influenced (or planted) some of the information that the Bush used to get us involved in the mid-east. That was about 5 years ago.

Talk about your basic brick wall.

Seems to me an idiot would make this about religion or national identity. Money is meeting pockets in some back alley.

  • Norwegian – The email was from Cole to Sibel, who passed it on to TAC. She also posted it on her own website. The entire interview has appeared in something like 680 other websites as of this morning but the MSM has ignored it. A number of other sites (generally left wing) have focused only on the lesbian story.

Norwegian Shooter: It was a written statement sent to Boiling Frogs Show and my website. 3 weeks ago, prior to ACM cover story, we interviewed Mr. Cole on FBI related issues. He sent his statement as an update to that interview and a response to the SCM story.

As far I know: no one yet. I agree with you that it is really unfortunate for some outlets to focus entirely on sex and sensationalism; vile, ugly and damaging to the real issues. As far as I know AntiWar has done a great job covering it; same with AntiWar Radio’s Scott Horton-as always objective, serious, and well-crafted questions.

    Regards, Sibel

  • Was Cole’s public statement an email to you or did he get quoted in another outlet?

Who has picked up the real story (as opposed to the lesbian angle) besides BradBlog and AntiWar.com?

  • A Turkish-speaking friend tells me that the Sybil Edmonds story has recently made it into the news there. He follows Turkish news over the internet, and it’s made enough of a splash that he found it on the site where he gets his Turkish club soccer scores.

I hope the charges are false, but since I suspect that they aren’t, I’m at least happy for TAC that they’re breaking a story of this magnitude.

  • It’s all part of that “special relationship” I keep hearing about. The Israelis spy with impunity, while Americans pay through the nose for the privilege, compliments of the US Congress. Heads, they win; tails, we lose.

All of this insanity is done to protect Israel, regardless of how damaging it is to America’s security.

    Next up: Iran.

  • Yeah, but come on! You can’t prosecute Grossman or smack the Israelis! Such would be blatant anti-Semitism!

  • For those who have not yet overdosed on the Sibel Edmonds saga, here is a link to an interview I gave yesterday on antiwar radio with Scott Horton and Joe Lauria. Joe Lauria was co-author of the three articles on Edmonds that appeared last year in The Sunday Times of London. Horton moderated. I become...
  • Isn’t Bruce Fein an ally of Ron Paul?

  • Sadly, I am doubtful that the MSM will give this story the play it deserves, for reasons which I, and other of Pat Buchanan’s followers over the years, know only too well.

  • I did another article on this for antiwar that appeared today. It doesn’t add much new for TAC readers but it is part of an effort to get this story out so that someone in the MSM and in Congress pays attention. I note that Ron Paul has picked up the interview on his website. http://original.antiwar.com/giraldi/2009/09/23/listening-to-sibel-edmonds/

  • would you please start giving credit for sherman h skolnick for helping keep these stories alive as well since he is no longer with us?

  • You’re to be congratulated for summarizing a very complex set of issues into something easy to understand. Kudos.

As for Ms. Edmonds, she is one brave woman standing tall against a gang of treasonous bastards. She might want to watch her back.

What kind of person would be willing to sell America down the river for personal power and riches? It’s appalling how thoroughly corrupt our “public servants” really are.

Hanging them from the yardarm is far too gentle. Tar and feather?

  • Those who are interested in issues like widespread corruption of our elected officals by foreigners have no doubt followed the ex-FBI traslator turned whistle blower Sibel Edmonds saga for the past few years. Sibel has finally testified in court under oath about some of the things that she learned while working for the bureau. The...

The poster who ridicules Edmons as “sibellydancer” is a flat-out bigot.

Big props to The American Conservative, Philip Giraldi, Brad Friedman and Sibel Edmonds herself for striving to make this story heard.

Edmonds’ allegations are just that — allegations. But they are credible, deserving of investigation, and newsworthy.

If no one in the “lamestream” media will report on them, it is hard to avoid the conclusion that Zionists indeed DO control substantially all U.S. media and that selling nuclear and other secrets is OK if you’re Jewish (or Turkish).

Let’s get real, also, that if Wolfie, Perle, and Doug Feith were chatting up a split of Iraq in the summer of 2001, that’s circumstantial proof that they knew of, if indeed they were not involved with, the impending event, the “galvanizing and cataclysmic” event, that would give the Bush Administration a free hand to launch wars against both Afghanistan and Iraq.

If the Obama Administration does not do a “balls-out” investigation of these charges, this Mayflower descendant is taking his family and getting the hell out. We’re a puppet state, we’re a Potemkin republic, we’re toast.

God bless Sibel, her supporters, and The American Conservative.

  • The partisan “game” of “gotcha” politics is really a strategy of divide and conquer. We have the biggest brothel the world has ever seen – Washington, DC. Our elected representatives and other government officials are selling national secrets (nuclear, military,?) and their votes for money or out of threat of blackmail.

As long as we are willing to sell our democracy to the highest bidder, be it Wall Street, international corporations, or foreign interests, this will remain the status quo. In his Farewell Address to the nation, Eisenhower warned us of the unholy alliance of the military-industrial complex, but no one heeded his words of wisdom. Now we find ourselves in the midst of a national emergency that is undeclared, ignored, and in the process of being swept under the carpet by the corporate news media by their very failure to report on it.

The American People have been played as “fools” by politicians from BOTH parties, and most are completely unaware that this process has been ongoing for decades. We have been convinced that we have a 2 party system, whereas we have but 2 wings of the same party – “The Party of Wall Street” or “The Corporation Party”. They finance our elections, subsidize our politicians, manufacture our voting machines and control who gets to go to the debates.

The current hue & cry about Obama socializing the country is more a ‘political smokescreen’ to hide the real issues, since, after all, the process began when Bush bailed out Wall Street last September and NOT when Obama was sworn in this past January. Instead of reporting on the story of Sibel Edmonds finally breaking her silence, the corporate news media was reporting to us on the death of Michael Jackson being ruled a homicide. I rest my case!

Regardless of what the Supreme Court may “think”, money is NOT free speech (and a corporation is not an individual endowed with inalienable rights by their creator). Money buys things, and speech is meant to convey ideas – and never the twain shall meet. Most (not all) of our elected representatives are bought-and-paid for by industry lobbyists and their corporate sponsors, or foreign interests, or both.

Each election cycle, our newly elected Congress quickly learns that fund raising is the most important activity to engage in as a freshman Congressman / Congresswoman. There is NO reason to believe that the details testified to by Sibel Edmonds are restricted to the Turkish Lobby in America, and that therefore, it must be assumed this is merely the tip of the iceberg. Unless and until we are willing to take-back our democracy from the financiers of our political process (both domestic and from abroad) by instituting serious campaign finance reforms and holding our corrupt leaders accountable, do not expect anything to change in your lifetime, or that of your children or grandchildren.

  • Wow…..just…..wow. Read the transcripts….WOW!! How is this stuff not being investigated?? I know why Congress wouldn’t do it. It could potentially wreck Dems as well and the Republicans. I can see why they would cover themselves and not touch this…but why hasn’t the media pitbulls taken a bite of two out of this yet??

I thought the media was suppose to keep government honest, they were suppose to be the ones reporting the facts….good or bad to us the people so we can hold them accountable.

Have I been blissfully ignorant to what really going on in my government?? So worried about my day to day life to really see what the hell is going on with my country?? Its time that us the people stood up and demanded our government be accountable, and prosecute all those dirty politicans and lobbyist who are are only out for themselves aren’t doing the people’s work, and are traitors to our country.

  • Vague, I don’t have an ideology of blood and soil. Where did you pick that up? Immigrant groups have always maintained at least some cultural affinities and traditions while becoming loyal Americans. But to say that you have no choice but to adhere to the allegiance of your pre-amercan group because some of your fellow citizens don’t like you is childish.

There are historic examples of what I mean. No one in their right mind denies the patriotism of the Japanese Americans. This is because they studiously avoided all collaboration with the Japanese Empire, and have not organized themselves into a pro-japan racial lobby. I know some white people who still don’t like them. But the answer of the Japanese Americans is, who cares?

Italian Americans have a similar history. They were not respected when they came but have prospered and are extremely loyal. Does everyone like them, no. do they care, no.

Bobby Jindhal (sp?) from Louisiana is of Indian extraction. He sounds like a southerner, so he is accepted.

    I hope this helps.

  • It’s not a question of white guilt Meehan. Your position is that ethnic types should forget about identity politics and petty tribalism and become “American.” The problem however is that your ideology of blood and soil precludes anyone who isn’t of a specific ethno-national extraction from being accepted as such. So what do people who are hyphenated Americans do when they will never be accepted as real Americans by people like you even when they try in earnest to be so?

  • David, everything you wrote about American sympathy and help for the Armenian Genocide is true. We did what we could. Now a hundred years later our congress is being asked to opine on these long past events. My point is that there is no nexus between current American interests and the legislation you want.

You wrote, “What is in America’s interests is for a better world. If self interest was the golden rule for all policies, then American politicians accepting bribes from foreign governments at the expense of national interests would be justifiable.” How many times have we gullible Americans been led down the garden path by such sophistry? American congressmen are getting bribes and threats from both the Turks and you Armenians. And it all needs to stop.

As for Vague ethnicity, If you are uncomfortable here, bugger off. The statute of limitations on white guilt ran out a few years ago.

  • When ethnic types like myself try to put the past behind us and become “real” Americans, we are always obstructed by the other-ness and lack of acceptance from mainstream white America. We can’t be just Americans because you won’t let us. “Oh what are you?” “Well, isn’t that interesting.” Besides, you paleo-cons do not believe anyone who is non-white or non- northern European can be a real American.

Thanks to Philip Giraldi and AmConMag for covering this news- Edmonds has been called credible by the DOJ IG and Sens. Leahy and Grassley, has testified before Congress and been interviewed by 60 Minutes. Twice gagged with the State Secrets privilege, she has now testified under oath, with video and transcript released to the public- named members of Congress and DOS/DOD officials accepting bribes and being blackmailed to deny the Armenian genocide- and facilitate black market trading of nuclear secrets. Turkish and Israeli interests infiltrating and corrupting the US govt and our public servants. and the MSM, Congress and Obama Administration (the DOJ knows what her testimony is, and was made aware that she would be testifying 8/8/09) ignore these charges of treason, which are libelous if untrue- and they continue serving the big corrupt corporate interests that own them.

For more info on Sibel Edmonds, see this profile, based entirely on mainstream sources:

  • Dear Thomas

It’s very easy for someone who is ignorant of the Armenian genocide to quarantine the event as a ‘feud’ imported to America by foreigners. However, it is quite the opposite. The American diplomats and missionaries resident in Turkey witnessed the event and participated in the relief effort to save the lives of those who survived. The American people helped raise over 110 million dollars at the time in what was America’s first major international humanitarian relief effort. Many prominent Americans (not Armenians) advocated for punishing the Turkish government for their crimes.

What is in America’s interests is for a better world. If self interest was the golden rule for all policies, then American politicians accepting bribes from foreign governments at the expense of national interests would be justifiable.

  • Congratulations, Mr. Giraldi. You’ve managed to attract the attention of the august president-elect of the ATAA, Mr. Ergun Kirlikovali.

Brad Friedman is correct to connect him to the posting name of “Norman Israel”. Usually he keeps his absurd comments for the very lucky browsers of the Turkish forum at Topix.net or certain blogs of the Orange County Register, but you have drawn him out from his usual lairs.

As president-elect of the ATAA. Kirlikovali is slated to assume the presidency of said organization at the end of Gunay Hakki Ovunc’s term. Ovunc himself has an interesting relationship with a certain Turkish mercenary firm based in the US. This firm has a big compound in Silopi, lots of military equipment, and employs lots of former Turkish contra-guerrillas. They’re running “security” operations in Iraq.

All of that is another story, though.

It’s too bad that the future president of the ATAA can’t learn to keep his big mouth shut or, more appropriately, refrain from clicking the “Submit Comment” button. It makes one wonder whose statements more accurately reflect the real attitude (and agenda) of the ATAA; those of Kirlikovali or of Ovunc? Upon taking office, Ovunc stated that the “ATAA is a proud interlocutor, as the voice of reason and credibility in Washington DC for nearly 500,000 Turkish and Turkic Americans nationwide.”

    So, which is it?

Notice, too, that the ATAA claims to speak not only for Turkish Americans but Turkic Americans as well. And there is a difference between the two. But since you spent time in the region, Mr. Giraldi, I’m sure you’re aware of that difference and what it means.

  • Brad Friedman, thanks. My point is that none of us should have dogs in these hunts. By allowing foreign powers to inject their propaganda through American mouths, we pollute our own public discourse. When either Jane Harmann or Darell Issa speak, are they representing American interests or others? And so in debate we come to suspect each other of agendas and ploys. When our representatives become puppets controlled by alien interests rational patriotic debate becomes impossible.
