Week 1 footfalls comparison: The Lion King v/s Spider-Man: Far From Home

The Lion King that released a week ago, on July 19, broke many records of the Hollywood releases this year and became the second highest Hollywood grosser of the year. The film collected Rs 82.40 crore at the box office in eight days of its release. It surpassed the lifetime numbers of Spider-Man: Far From Home in six days of its release and surpassed the lifetime numbers of Captain Marvel in eight days of its release. 

If we compare the week one footfalls of The Lion King with the fourth highest Hollywood grosser of the year, Spider-Man, the difference is 38 per cent approximately. For The Lion King, more than 25 lakh people came to the top four cinema chains (PVR, Inox, Carnival and Cinepolis) of India while for Spider-Man more than 18 lakh people arrived in these multiplexes. Spider-Man's business is Rs 75.13 crore, so far.

The table above shows the above mentioned films' week one occupancy in top four multiplex chains of India. In PVR the week one occupancy of The Lion King was 29.61 per cent higher than that of Spider-Man, in Inox it was 38.86 per cent higher, in Carnival it was 59.64 per cent higher and in Cinepolis it was 40.28 per cent higher.
