Mission
The Kuwait Investment Authority's mission is to achieve a long term investment return on the financial reserves entrusted by the State of Kuwait to the Kuwait Investment Authority, providing an alternative to oil reserves, which would enable Kuwait's future generations to face the uncertainties ahead with greater confidence.
Philosophy
Since its creation in 1953, KIA has based its investment decisions exclusively on commercial considerations, not on the political or foreign policy interests of the State of Kuwait, and will continue to do so in the future. KIA is a force for stability in financial markets: it has a long-term investment horizon and has the ability to bear risk and accommodate short-term volatility, and Kuwait law prohibits KIA from borrowing.
