Subj: How to be a blog artist for fun and (real) profit
————
Everyone wants to make money and everyone wants to be free.
Great news, you can accomplish both if you're a successful blog artist.
I recently wrote a post called Take Off the Mask and Expose Your Inner Entrepreneur. In that post I critiqued readers' business ideas. Quite a few of the business ideas were for blogs.
The desire to be a blog artist is there.
You're in luck, boys, because there's one thing I know how to do very well – write a badass blog that pays.
In this article I'm going to share with you some of my secrets about blogging and I'm going to give you a step by step guide to making money from nothing.
I'm going to show you how to be a professional blog artist.
Let me explain how I started…
I lived life, I succeeded, I wrote about success. That was my beginners formula.
As Bold and Determined has evolved the formula is still completely un-complicated – live life, succeed, write about it.
I'm not a “numbers” guy and I'm not a copycat.
I'm a gut instinct guy, I have never followed any marketing guru advice (scoundrels and liars, all of them).
I always just did what felt right. It worked out and everything I'm going to share with you is what I've learned from blogging successfully for four years.
Before you ask why you should listen to me, I'll answer: I'm an expert and I comfortably make 6 figures as a blog artist. My word is as good as gold, and you can take that to the bank.
Follow my tips (tips, not rules. There are no rules) and you can do the same thing.
Let's get started…
Who is a good candidate to be a successful blog artist?
You need to be a real person who lives a real life and has real answers.
Only authorities make real money. To be a real authority you have to be a real person.
You have to live what you write about. Your word means shit if you aren't living it.
Be the man you wish to be. Don't fake it 'til you make it, be it before you write about it.
Show proof on your blog. If you don't live a life your blog is going to be boring, useless and eventually bankrupt.
B&D; has 10,000 copycats but they won't make it. Your blog is your heart, soul, blood and guts. That can't be faked if you want success.
You need to expose yourself to the world.
Your blog sucks if you don't show your face. Period.
Proof is required to be an authority. Being an authority is how you make money.
Help your readers trust you and show who you really are.
No one will believe in you if you don't believe in yourself enough to put your face, thoughts and ideas out there for public scrutiny or praise.
Do you start one blog or several niche blogs?
A niche blog is a small blog that focuses on a very specific topic and attracts a smaller, highly targeted audience. Generally a niche blog will not have more than 5-10 articles, each of those articles are thinly veiled attempts to get you to buy some product or to click on some ad.
Niche blogs are all the rage and the “experts” will tell you to start 10 niche blogs so you can diversify your income. Just one problem, the experts are liars and niche blogs are shit.
Let me explain…
A niche blog is not an authority, it's just a bunch of articles about the same subject. A niche blog is a piece of bullshit that someone stumbles on when they want an answer to something. After they get their answer they leave and don't come back.
On the other hand when they stumble onto an article on your blog and get their answer they can then check out all your other material and, if they like it, they'll stay. They'll stay because you're clearly an authority.
Niche blogs throw away readers, blogs keep readers.
Ten niche blogs are worth less than one authority blog.
Is there a way to diversify your income if you only have one authority blog?
Yes.
Here's the secret that no one knows:
Each great article you write is it's own niche site.
But instead of having those articles floating around in cyber-space on a separate niche site they are connected to your main site and they're building your authority, reputation and bank account.
If you want to make money from a blog, not just once but forever, you have to make great content that stands the test of time.
Each day, articles that I've written as long as three years ago still make me money.
Care should be given to each and every article. Each article should be the absolute best it can be. You want your reader to stumble on killer article after killer article.
If they find the answer to their question on a niche site where do they go from there? Away from your site.
If they find the answer to their question on your blog where do they go from there? If you've done a good job of internally linking all your articles and products in every article your new readers will stay on your site reading all your great material.
Don't start niche blogs, start one blog. You can diversify your income through one blog and you don't have to waste your time and energy running ten blogs.
Your focus should always be on one thing only.
So how do you make multiple streams of income through one blog?
Two ways:
- Affiliate marketing
- Satellite sites
Affiliate marketing
Affiliate marketing is when you indirectly sell another company's products and they give a commission per each sale you generate. In layman's terms, you get paid for referrals who buy.
Affiliate marketing will give you multiple sources of income (for each product that you endorse) and it can truly be passive income after you have put in the work.
Some of my older articles (3+ years) still make me 1k+ each month. Put even just a few great articles together and you're talking real money.
Satellite sites
Satellite sites are the problem solvers answer to niche sites. Satellite sites are your own projects (ebooks, podcasts, courses, video etc.) but they are on new domains.
Example: My main site is BoldandDetermined.com, some of my satellite sites are BoldandDetermined.net (BADNET) and 30DaysofDiscipline.com.
Satellite sites revolve around your main site, so they carry the authority of your main site but they give you the freedom to design them in other ways.
You don't want all your projects to be stuck with one design. On the other hand you don't want all your work disconnected and discombobulated.
You want everything connected, even if they have different domain names they should still be branded under your reputation and authority.
I call my business world BADWORLD. Everything I do revolves around Bold and Determined like Phobos and Deimos revolve around Mars (the God of War) – connected but still separate.
Pictured: BADWORLD. Not drawn by Victor Pride.
You want multiple sources of income but not multiple sources of focus.
Diversify the income stream, keep the focus on one thing.
Don't throw away your energy on building multiple projects because you'll spread yourself thin.
Build one, finish it completely, then move on to the next one. But make sure to keep your focus on one thing – your authority blog.
How to write articles that pay every day
They say the money is in the list but that's absolute bullshit. The money is in the reputation. The list just facilitates your business needs.
Email marketing is not the best strategy for making money from a blog.
The best strategy to make money from a blog is:
Writing timeless content that can live on for eternity on your blog.
Each article you write is it's own little niche site. But those articles are connected to something much larger – your blog.
Blogging vs email marketing
When I write a blog article it's online forever. When I write an email it has a timeline of realistically one hour. After one hour the clicks drop rapidly.
Good blog articles will make you money daily without any further involvement from you. Emails, on the other hand, will make you money in the hour after you send them and then nothing else.
So if you rely on email marketing to make money what do you have to do to keep sales up? You have to keep sending emails.
Articles, on the other hand, receive traffic day in and day out and you only publish articles one time.
Here are two examples of niche articles on Bold and Determined:
- 10 Reasons to Stop Using Internet Porn
- The #1 Legal Muscle Building Supplement That Actually Works (and will probably be banned soon)
I could send those two articles out as emails and they'd be forgotten in 24 hours. As blog articles they've been read by millions of people and they're still read by thousands every day.
Internet marketing vs content creation
I have zero respect for internet marketers because they're lazy and stupid.
Their goal is to have a successful product launch and make a lot of money once and then move on to the next product launch. That's literally what they do.
They're take the money and run hucksters. When the money runs out they come crawling back with another launch.
Their products don't last because they don't make timeless content, they only put effort into the launch.
The launch makes them money for a limited period of time, then the money runs out and they have to do the same thing over and over.
The launch model is a dumb business model. Instead of making money every day of the week they make money over the course of the launch and then they basically make nothing until they launch another product. They may as well rely on a paycheck.
On the other hand I make money every day from books I wrote 3-4 years ago because the content is timeless. I never pushed a big launch, I never cared about a launch.
Marketing for the pros 101
What's the secret to making money from seemingly nothing?
Non-invasive marketing
The non-invasive marketing strategy is simple: place links to your products in your articles. Don't sell them in the articles, just say “these are available“.
It's the simplest strategy in the world but it works wonders.
Don't harass your readers with constant emails or nasty pop-ups offering them a free guide to learn how to breathe better just so you can add another email address to your list of prospects.
Offer value and they'll buy, it's really that simple.
Hidden-in-plain-sight promotion
Nearly all of my articles promote one of my books or one of my associates.
But they are subtle. They aren't “hard sales”.
They aren't thrown in your face but they are a call to action.
Soft sales
The non-invasive marketing strategy can also be called the “soft sale”.
Save the hard sale for the sales page. When you mention your products in an article the soft sell will convert better than the hard sale.
People don't want to be sold, they want a solution to their problem.
Try to push sales on people and they're just going to run from you. Offer them a solution and they'll come running to you with handfuls of money.
Make it rain
Your business is like a tree, keep feeding it water and it will grow big and strong. When your tree grows big and strong it will bear fruit for you (money and freedom). Stop feeding your tree and it will wither and die.
Plan for growth. Your blog starts out as a little root, you need to water it to make it grow into a big tree.
That means, yes, you have to work.
You work now so that in the future you can work less.
Anyone can understand the make it rain plan…
Pictured: The tree of wealth and freedom
How to start a blog that pays
Start your blog with BADNET
BADNET is my satellite site that sets up WordPress blogs for those who don't know how or don't want to. Doesn't matter if you're a tech guy or not, it'll be taken care of for you for free and it isn't outsourced to India or the Philippines.
My right hand admin does it all and does it with perfection. We take care to do it right. We also go above and beyond and set up the must use plugins and give you four extra reports about how to make money blogging. If you want to start a blog it's a no-brainer.
Start writing
BADNET will plant your tree but you actually have to write the articles. Just write about what you know. You need an audience and you need quality articles. Put those two things together and you can make money. Quality articles are the rain that grows your tree of wealth and freedom.
Sell something
You don't make money without selling something. You can sell ad space, you can affiliate market products or you can make your own products. It's easier to put in affiliate links to products you currently use and enjoy but it's best to make your own products and stay in complete control of your money.
Don't quit
Don't stop building. Don't stop feeding your tree of wealth or it will die. Like Tom Waits once said, “you got to make it rain“.
If you want your own tree of wealth you got to make it rain.
Until next time.
Your man,
-Victor Pride

Hi Vic
you motivate me and my twin brother to start our blog. Thanks very much for this valuable information and keep the good work.
Take care
Ethan X says
Agreed. Thanks Vic. I started my blog before I knew about BaD, but I still get a TON of useful info and motivation from you.
SJ says
Vic, how far away is badwear?
Victor Pride says
Badwear is 97% finished. We’re just testing now to make sure there are no bugs and the ordering process is smooth.
Rob says
Vic,
This is some eye opening advice. As a newbie, I was under the impression you need to build a huge email list to have a good readership. One of the sites that promoted this idea put the only content I wanted in a subscribe pop up so I was forced to enter my email for it.
Victor Pride says
You need emails, but an email is worthless if the person sending it to you is worthless.
Rob says
Good point.
AmbitiousLad says
Damn, now I’m galvanized. Time to go write that article.
Tate says
Excellent post. If anyone is currently running a niche site, why not put some effort into it and turn it into an authority site?
I believe in the soft sell, you put your links up and people understand that they are being sold to in this day and age. Pat Flynn does something similar where he’ll do a tutorial and show you how to do it the free way and the easier way with special software, and then will just put the affiliate link up. The call to action is him showing how easier it is to do with paid tools.
Victor, will badnet ever offer some kind of consulting option if I had some site design issues, but already have my site up and running?
Victor Pride says
“Victor, will badnet ever offer some kind of consulting option if I had some site design issues, but already have my site up and running?”
In the future, definitely.
Mahesh says
Victor,
What is your opinion of Pat Flynn overall? Have you ever used his advice for B&D?
Axel Page says
Phenomenal post
Jacob says
Solid advice Vic. Really like the idea of soft selling your products by linking them in many of your posts. Definitely a tactic I will be using in the future.
Mike says
“Your blog sucks if you don’t show your face. Period.”
Wall street playboys’ blog is great and they never showed their face. I doubt they’re the only ones.
Victor Pride says
I’d be embarrassed to ask for donations and I don’t get embarrassed.
Mike says
To each his own, I wouldn’t be embarrassed by having a donation button, it’s just there for people who enjoy the content, it’s not like they’re begging for donations in their articles.
Anon1 says
Yeah I was thinking about this as well. ultimately i would like to have my real identity associated with a site online, but i wouldn’t do it, until i was making enough money that the threat of firing did not affect me.
Currently I work in the worst area in the world. Local government.
Prior to that my studies are in a very specific energy-engineering area, so my Year sabbatical (starting november) to work on creating a fully fledged site full time need to cover any potential blackballing that may come from those sectors. Keeping the identities seperate make the decision to jump in with both feet a low cost option as i can fall back on contacts in the engineering area if i need a job.
There’s something to be said for burning your bridges to ensure victory though, so I am still thinking this one through
DT says
So, I just checked out their blog. To be honest, it gave me a headache looking at it. Too flat, content looks canned, and really looks cheap. No class or style. Also looks difficult to find what you want.
Mike says
Content is great, but it is aimed at people interested in finance so they will enjoy it more than others.
Wojciech Majda says
Thanks for a great post. I like the metaphor of a tree.
pm says

Damian Minichowski says
Nope, he is cooking meth for sure ;)
Mahesh says
I hope it is the successor to Spartan Entrepreneur. Victor mentioned it briefly in his Q&A podcast.
Victor Pride says
It isn’t. Though a replacement SE is in the works.
Rick says
loved it.
You said you achieved success before writing about it.Ok with the spartan body.
What about 30dod? Did you write it while testing the very principles out, or had you used them before?
Victor Pride says
Of course.
Alexander says
Lately, you just write a classic after another.
Excellent point about keeping your focus in check, that’s super important but slips out so easily when you’re afraid. And with this I want to ask: do you do any type of special visualization?
Thanks.
Victor Pride says
Nothing special, but I can see the future. I just take steps to build the image I have in my head.
TheGreyWolf says
Great post Vic.
Timely, authoritative, informative.
I am putting in the work now. Living/fixing my life.
THEN I will help others do the same. I know they are out there. I see them everyday. I want to grab them by the collar and scream into their dull, lifeless eyes, “WAKE THE FUCK UP!”
I have spent hours trying to find even one blog like the one I am creating. I can’t find one.
Again, I want to tell your readers that want to blog; if you want to be a badass, bodybuilding, world traveling entrepreneur with a kick-ass, take no shit philosophy: it’s already been done, and done superbly. Live YOUR life. Be different. Add value.
This post, read on my lunch break, makes me want to go home and write all afternoon.
Another point. Don’t rush into it. Plan it. Live it. THEN write about it. NOT about your future, about your past. Write with authority on what you have already done, not some hyperbole crap about what you think you’d like to do.
Hey Vic. Maybe a post someday about how to deal with the trolls, hackers, saboteurs, security issues, etc?
I know it’s not all about sunshine and unicorn farts, even in BADWORLD.
Thanks again for all you do.
Michelangelo
Victor Pride says
“Hey Vic. Maybe a post someday about how to deal with the trolls, hackers, saboteurs, security issues, etc?”
I actually did a whole podcast about this but haven’t published it. Short answer: kick them out of your life. Ignore them. There are a lot more rainbows and unicorns when you don’t allow negative people in your life.
TheGreyWolf says
Thank you for this.
“They are an energy vampire, but they won’t get any energy from me.”
And this…
“If you can’t turn them (negative people) around, and make them positive, they don’t deserve a spot in your life.”
I already have this skill set. I have not responded to a single harassing text or email from the ex-wife in almost 3 years.
In fact, I haven’t heard the sound of her voice or seen the whites of her eyes in almost four years, and we live in the same town.
To me she is dead. I pay my obligations through the state. I handle my business and my children as if she doesn’t exist. I rely on her for NOTHING.
It works better than you might think.
Victor Pride says
Here’s a podcast I did about internet trolls and energy vampires: http://bit.ly/1qjXUVc
Alexander says
Will there be a nightly or at least a weekly podcast? Because it’s a good idea.
Have an excellent Sunday.
Victor Pride says
Anything’s possible but I wouldn’t hold my breathe. I have bunch of podcasts recorded but the medium just doesn’t “click” with me. I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t understand the audience or the appeal of a podcast.
Alexander says
The appeal is that voice communication is much more direct than writing. And of course, it comes down to the voice and the attitude in it. And you transmit even more power through your voice. But anyway, your choice.
Rob says
To me, articles are more useful than a podcast. If the article is good and I want to come back to it for a piece of content, I can just do a find for the word and jump to where I need to go. If I come back to a podcast I have to bounce around the whole thing.
Victor Pride says
I’m of the exact same mind.
Alexander says
Good for you, Rob, but the audience is bigger than you. Some of us like hearing and seeing the people behind the business. Still, he’ll do whatever he wants.
Rob says
I believe the solution would be to release the text with the podcast.
Dennis says
Podcasts and audio books are a godsend for people like myself who have a 45 minute work commute & hate the radio. People say I’m nuts, but I actually enjoy getting stuck in traffic for just this reason.
Victor Pride says
Dennis, finally you have confirmed for me the reason people dig podcasts. I get it now.
TS says
Podcasts are nice but I think articles are better.
For someone who is busy but yet enjoy B&D, I can read article on my own pace. But if I have to watch video or hear podcasts, I have to wait until the video is actually over for me to finish watching/hearing.
I just hope you don’t go from writing articles to doing only podcasts. That’s not to say I won’t listen to them and having little mix of both is good but your main focus of doing articles would nail it. Just my 2 cent.
But since both your articles and video/audios are high quality, I don’t think it will affect in drop of your audience.
Victor Pride says
Writing is my art, I’m not going to an all podcast formula. That wouldn’t make any sense.
Marcus Victus says
Hey Vic,
Will you write an article on how exactly did you come up with such a great name as Bold And Determine?
All the best,
-Mark

He talked about this in his first podcast.

Victor, thanks for this post.
The part about the tree of wealth reminded me of a famous Chinese proverb: “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”
EA says
well, I guess that my little blog on pulp/weird fiction will never make me $$$ ! The niche is so small that I find it hard to even call it a niche.
Victor Pride says
Just be the authority.
EA says
Not sure it would work. The market for that topic is too small, probably composed alchoolic writers, a few nerds like me, and some old men.
Now, if I read your article correctly it might bring some money through affiliate marketing (for ex. people buy the latest Stephen King through my blog), but wouldn’t the size of the market be a huge constraint?
Florian says
What’s your blog address, EA? I’d like to check it out.
See, you already got me interested with the words “pulp/weird”. I guess if you are an authority, you can attract new people into it.
For example, I was also not initially looking for “bold and determined” advice on the web, I was just mildly interested, then learnt about B&D and stayed.
EA says
Florian, be careful. Once you enter the realms of pulps you’ll never get out.
My blog is “Eerie Worlds” on http://www.eerieworlds.com . It’s half personal blog and half dedicated to pulp fiction. I don’t spend much time on it, and it shows.
To tell you the truth, a few posts had somewhat decent success considering I don’t advertise them, and I also got a few encouraging emails (including from authors and publishers). However I am not entirely sure that the field can help in getting some money. Who knows?
And if you don’t know what expect from pulps, just consider this little powerful opening of one of the great pulp stories : http://eerieworlds.com/2014/08/22/a-pulp-opener-what-is-yours/
Christian says
I have my blog http://www.christologic.com….it is dedicated for personal experiences and thoughts. What I learn and see everyday, that’s what I write.
Feel free to visit it.
Alexander says
Fiction shouldn’t stop at a blog. I’m also writing fiction, but I’m preparing it for Amazon/Kindle. Even with writing fiction, there’s tons of things you can blog about: business, writing, art, design etc.
Simon says
Thanks Vic,
Very motivating well put together and detailed article which is pretty much telling me to get my S**t together and get going.
Thank you

I noticed a typo: “bare.” It should be “bear.”
Ethan X says
And “use plugins” should be “useful plugins.”
Ethan X says
Another great article. I’m curious Victor, what are the pros and cons of having a satellite site for a product you’re selling vs just giving the product a new page on your blog?
Victor Pride says
More money.
Jay Campbell says
Victor-this is some science dropping shit right here! Thank You! People the world over looking to make $$$ online should have this article as required reading. It hit me squarely in the eyes while dropping off my girls this AM.
Kudos my brother!
Victor Pride says
Grazie.
Will says
This is a great post for people who have the knowledge and experience to start a blog.
However, I really wouldn’t suggest it if you aren’t an expert at something. Don’t make the same mistake I made and waste your time writing about stuff that you can’t emulate the second you step away from the keyboard.
You’re 100% better off going a different route if you can’t set an example, write about it effectively, and lead by that example every day of your life.
No one will pay for your shit.
Art. M. O'Fallan says
Victor,
What do you think about making a blog for the sole purpose of practicing for a future blog?
I’m not yet the person I need to be to start a blog about a certain something I’m interested in, and I’m at a loss when it comes to things to write about; it’s this or nothing, and it’s not something I can fake.
However, I’ve met someone who is very knowledgeable about a different area entirely, but doesn’t speak English.
They’d be willing to finance the entire venture, as well as give me the information I need to write.
Yay or nay?
Victor Pride says
Yeah, that’s a good idea so you know the ins and outs of wordpress. Everyone should know wordpress.
D/C Russ says
Dude this is groundbreaking shit. I love how you just cut through the bullshit. Everyone’s a liar…you don’t need any of their crap products. You just have to be a real S-O-B who does real stuff that provides real value.
I’ve never seen anyone do it better than you.
I have sent you a few emails now asking you “how” you did it. You didn’t respond and I’m extremely grateful that you didn’t even take 2 nanoseconds to indulge me in such petty requests. This article clears everything up.
After reading this, I see that you’re 10 million times the inspiration I ever thought you were.
Keep it up, Vic. You have a loyal comrade for life. Thanks for everything over the years.
You just remember me by that favicon on 30days, ey brother?
Cheers…I’ll be sending some more attention your way. Thanks again.
Victor Pride says
I remember. Great favicon.

The best.

Vic,
Is there any reason your do not incorporate Adsense ads into your blog posts for some extra income? Just curious.
Vik
Roc says
Great post Vic,
I feel like theres gonna be a shit ton of blogs popping up because of the information you put out. Including mine,
I think he covered this in an earlier post, adsense is pennies to your income and it clutters the blog and makes it look like shit.
Vik says
Thanks for that info, Roc. I agree that for certain industries (gaming, movies, etc.) adsense does not pay well at all. For other industries (finance, legal), however, one can earn as much as $1.50-$3 per click. I think the personal-finance-related posts on B&D can do quite well with adsense.
Victor Pride says
Adsense looks like shit, B&D looks great.
Goldmund says
Victor, your words were a huge inspiration for me to hit the gym, then create my own blog.
It’s doing way better than I ever expected and it’s only two months in…I’m just getting started.
Book out soon.
Thanks for these tips, and please keep the articles coming.
Any feedback or advice on how to make my blog better or more of a money maker would be very appreciated.
Right now the bulk of the income comes from exchanging condoms for donations.
Going to post a review of Body of a Spartan soon.
Victor Pride says
Excellent. Noted.
TS says
I’m a picky reader myself and I don’t visit blogs too often. I visited other people’s blog but I quickly forgot about them. I actually bookmarked this blog to my favorites. I discovered this blog like few months ago and I read all the articles but I still re-read the articles from time to time because Vic’s articles are Timeless content. Which means I can read his articles fifty years later and they would still make sense. This is one of the reason why Vic gets so many audiences and also because he walked the walk before talking the talk. Being an authority. Not a faker but a real action taker.
Victor Pride says
Thank you.
Sun says
Agreed. His articles are worth reading over and over again. I have read some of his articles over 50 times and still don’t get bored.
PYGOD says
First of all, congratulations for your blog. Probably the most enjoyable blog to read, apart from mines. Just like you, I’m more of an artist than a marketer. I LOVE writing and blogging!
I also think that it’s best to concentrate all your effort on a single blog instead of throwing shit around with worthless niche sites. However, since I enjoy writing about several subjects, I had no other choices than having a couple of working blogs. I’ve currently have two moneymaking blogs: one about porn (I know you hate it but I dig it) and one about combat sports, fitness and strength sports, plus a third one about gambling, stock market and moneymaking. And countless niche blogs selling watches, penis pills, and more… I must said that most of my niche are worthless pieces of crap. Nonetheless, when I initially started my moneymaking blogs, they, too, were also worthless pieces of crap.
To this day, I still love throwing shit to the wall to see if it’s stick. Usually it didn’t, but when it’s stick I work my ass off on this. Usually the posts I wrote for my niche blogs ends on my moneymaking blogs.
For me, 3 moneymaking blogs / full-time jobs are the perfect number. Since I LOVE blogging and writting, I like being busy all the time.
It would be interesting to have your feed-back on my thoughts on the subject.
Thanks for the always inspiring posts!
Victor Pride says
You’ll do much better financially if you put them all on one blog or interlink them all as one entity under different names. Minus the porn one.
PYGOD says
My 2 main blogs (porn + fitness/fighting) are already well-ranked on google. So converting them under one domain name would be, most likely, bad for business.
And I don’t see how I can mix pro wrestling, gambling, and diamond watches?!!?
What do you mean by “interlink them all as one entity under different names”?
Victor Pride says
“And I don’t see how I can mix pro wrestling, gambling, and diamond watches?!!?”
Why not?
PYGOD says
Yes, it would be great!
But my PYGODblog is already dedicated to porn, StrengthFighter is dedicated to fitness & fighting, BillionaireGambler is dedicated to stock market and gambling… Each of these 3 blogs have a lot of valuable real estate values (links to article) on the web. Putting all 3 under the same roof (domain name) would be a lost of value. It’s all about Google!!!
Jason B says
That satellite site idea is f*cking genius!
jose says
YO!!! Vic just gave us the keys to our freedom!
Thank You!
You gave some solid advice here and take it from me I have done Black hat, White hat and all there is in between and nothing even got my ass sand boxed by Google for a time. Why because i wanted to get over on Google and got caught. I never realized that I had to put in work and become an authority.
Vic has broken it down for all of us! Believe me if you have been doing stuff on line for a long time online then you already know that Vic is giving you truthful info. I know for me I already use the satellite concept but not in the way he uses it.
I have like 4 sites and all update at the same time when i write post! SO believe me it works! Once i did this I was able to get more traffic to my blog.
Also writing great articles can get you a lot of traffic! I have written one article about “Flipping cars” and that article right there gets about 440 hits a day!
What Vic is saying does work!
Believe me I read and bought the crap from Internet Marketers as well. I have learned a few things but mostly is all about email marketing and building sales funnels and such
I would like the books you are offering on your BADNET! I know I bought the very first entrepreneur book called the “Spartan Entreprenuer” that book right there set me off on the right path to success! I began to get traffic within two weeks of reading that book!
Gentlemen! I apologize for rattling off for so long, but I cannot stop promoting this dude’s stuff! It works! Stop messing around and contact him at BADNET and get your blog and lets us hear what you have to say!
I know I have and I have been at it for 2 1/2 years and i love it! You owe it to yourself to try! Make it a hobby rather than sitting and watching TV all day! Write up a post and slpw it on your blog for the whole world to see!
Thank you Vic!

What you don’t mention above (but maybe have in the past) is the authenticity you bring to your blog. Only a few (Viperchill springs to mind, even though his blog serves a different purpose) bring that realness too it.

I’ve followed your blog a long time. My two friend and I are on this crazy road-trip to Key West and your blog inspired us to get off our butts and find some ladies. Thanks for making such an awesome blog, sir! I always look forward to reading everything you write.

Sounds familiar. I did a little drive-by sandwiching in Key West myself.

Great article. Vic, unrelated question. I’ve been hit pretty hard these past couple days with a nasty cold. When you’re sick/have a cold, how do you deal with it? Rest and recover, or keep trudging along and living your life as you normally would?
Victor Pride says
I don’t get sick, colds, flus anymore etc but last time I was “sick” I stayed I just rested for a week (had wisdom teeth removed, face swelled up like a bulldog bumblebee).
In the past when I used to get sick I’d just carry on like normal, wasn’t a smart thing to do. Get some rest.

Hi Vic,
When it comes to “face” thing. Surely, nothing brings more authority than standing behind your words and have a proof of it. But how about to prove it otherwise, instead of with face (only). Like for example, bodybuilder with blog can show body only, or blog about offshore accounting holding passport and offshore deposit check book on photo, sport blog with photo of a guy doing sports with the name of blog on his t-shirt. You get my drift.
If I would do thing like that, and yes, I have experiences 99% people don’t, including living abroad for years in different places, life and death situations, lost business, successful business, overcoming extreme situations…, so I have a lot to write about from RL. I just don’t feel comfortable putting my face out. I am not shy by any means, afraid or anything like that, it is just something I don’t want to do.
Btw, is there any way to have unique username for the site, it is annoying to see many “Leos” or other same name usernames and you don’t know who is who.
Victor Pride says
Proof. That’s what you need. Sounds like you have it.
“Btw, is there any way to have unique username for the site, it is annoying to see many “Leos” or other same name usernames and you don’t know who is who.”
Yeah, type in a different name next time you comment.
Leo says
Cool cool.
I just might to do that, although I started a project just recently so have to stayed focused on that one for now. When I talk to people in RL, like deep talk between 2 guys, I notice that usually guys ears get bigger than their head and it happened many times that I got feedback from them that they made a life changing decision because of talking to me. Even some girls have done that. So I know I have it, just never thought of cashing it up until now. I’ll see.
As for the usern., I can find my own, I thought more of a some other guys have same usern., so can’t really follow comments who said what. Not a biggie, just a thought.
Anyway, thanks and btw I live in Asia too (IP doesn’t count).

Victor Pride is one of the rare guys who “get it”. There are only a handful of guys who have complete trust in themselves, and understand the superiority of testosterone.
You have to be a person who doesn’t need anything but wants everything. If you are looking for answer, acceptance, validation, information etc. anything from external sources, then you are still not getting it.
The copy-cats are actually saying that they don’t feel enough. These faggots don’t actually like themselves and only way the feel like they can earn success is by taking the symbols(words) from someone else who feels the exact opposite and actually LIVES HIS OWN LIFE.
But the value parasites never make it. The copy is only a copy without soul.
Anon1 says
>If you want to make money from a blog, not just once but forever, you have to make great content that stands the test of time.
This really struck a chord, and is in line with your previous comments about timeless content that talks about the past and future versus saying today or having topical references which dates the information.
I am beginning to realise that the ‘shortcut’ to success is to do the opposite of what the herd is doing.
The herd’s lifehacking? Then work hard and complete something to mastery
The herd’s doing 9-5 five days a week for someone else then living to get drunk on the weekends?
Then work solely and totally on your own work put in the hours it needs, make the effort upfront and reap the rewards over time.
Same in business, and news. IF EVERYONE’s doing something, There’s no profit to be made in that thing.
I strongly suspect that though i want to go into kindle publishing, its a saturated market because now everyone knows about it. For people who work hard they will always find a way to let their quality rise to the top, but there is something to be said for being first in a new market as well.
Great article, which caused me to think a lot Vic and spurs action. The very definition of Timeless Content.
Riz says
The 9-5 to get drunk on the weekends is what I used to do. I woke up and realized how ridiculously pointless and soul-sucking it is. I recently gave up alcohol and some of my friends ask “what’s wrong with you man.”
I’m on a mission, that’s whats wrong with me, pathetic sheeple.
TheGreyWolf says
” I recently gave up alcohol and some of my friends ask “what’s wrong with you man.” ”
That’s awesome.
I have long felt it is our ability to operate successfully in an uncomfortable environment that separates us more so from the animal kingdom than merely the anatomical difference of opposable thumbs.
If the opposable thumb theory were laudable, then reducing a man to the level of an animal would be as simple as cutting off his thumbs.
Sorry for the tangent.
All that to say I applaud your drive and success.

I find myself drinking less and less as time goes by. Not exactly sure what the catalyst was that turned me off of it but I just don’t want it much anymore. Even after a hectic day of work, like today, my wife met me at the door with a cold beer and I only had a sip and was done.
TheGreyWolf says
I heard once that beer is the opiate of the mindless masses.
You will find that the more you focus on the tangible and intangible realities of life, the less you will indulge wasteful forays into the destruction of the one commodity we are all given with absolute equality…
Time.
That said, there are some times that a bit of alcohol will enhance a parallel experience. But to drink for the sake of drinking, to numb myself to a situation or doing something positive or creative is simply a waste of….
Time.
And $$$.
Where I live the following is true.
Gas is $3.19 a gallon.
Milk is $3.59 a gallon.
Cheap beer is $15.20 a gallon.
Drink less.
It will save you time AND money!
Jacob says
I’m starting to wake up to the fact about drinking, even just a few times a week, more and more each day. I have made some big changes to my diet the past couple of weeks and noticed some great benefits. Will be writing about them on my blog soon. But yeah you’re right, pound for pound, alcohol is one of the biggest wastes of money.

What is your take about travel blogs?
The market is saturated with a gigantic load of absolute crap blogs.
To be real, travel is one of my biggest interests and what I have more experiences of than most guys.
I want to make a blog and write about traveling, but I’m not sure how I could make it stand out from all the junk that already exists.
Do you know any decent blogs that combine traveling with other subjects?
Victor Pride says
No, I don’t read any travel blogs. Is it saturated? Yeah, if your travel insight is garbage. If you’re unique competition doesn’t exist.
Leo says
Charles, I met couple in their late 20s who have been traveling 7 years. They live on a boat, live very minimalistic lifestyle and seemed very happy about their life.
They traveled (with their wooden boat) from New Zealand to Asia, stopping in all kind of interesting places. After small chit chat I gave them idea about blogging about their trip, actually about their lifestyle and they were interesting in it, but didn’t know how to do it. After small discussion they said how happy they are to met me and that they will definitely consider blogging about their lifestyle and writing an e-book.
If they truly will, I bet that it’s gonna be awesome blog, since their traveling is truly unique. But now…, if you just go to holidays and write about some lonely planet kind of stuff, you will get lost in zilions of travelers wanna be.
Alden Tan says
Hey Victor,
Love this. I too agree that internet marketers are very narrow-minded. They go by the launch model and what gets to me most is they claim to be authentic in their business, when they are not.
I find it super hypocritical for them to put up testimonials or emails from people and then claim shit like, “This is what keeps me going in my business :)”, when in fact, they’re always outsourcing their content.
Question: In your opinion, how does one truly create timeless content that both provides value and gain mass appeal at the same time?
I find it a wonder when you could put in your best effort, write your best shit ever and… not many people are reading it.
On the flip side, when you churn out a random piece of content that you wouldn’t think someone would care about, it gets shared like mad. Happened to me a couple of times before.
Of course, I do believe the key is always be consistent in both effort and heart, but yeah, seems like a dilemma somewhat.

Hey Vic, I’m thinking about starting BOAS but you mentioned on the podcast that bodybuilding training impedes your athletic performance. So I’m confused do I go with BOAS or a strength-based/powerlifting program. I’m new to all this so if you could help clear somethings up would be great.
Thanks.
Victor Pride says
Go with BOAS, it is a strength based system. Much more athletic than bodybuilding training.

Hi Victor, thanks again for your post. It stimulates my creativity and always makes me come up with new ideas.
One question: Pat Flynn started foodtruckr(.com) as a niche site even though he was not an authority on it. The difference to most other niche sites is – he owns up to not being the expert, says it directly in the about page, but then goes on to weave his own business advice into the site (on which he again IS an authority).
So you think it’s possible to branch out into niches that are not familiar to you as long as you link the niche back to an area where you have indeed some authority? It’s fun to explore something new once you have your foundation down.
Victor Pride says
Pat doesn’t make jack from his niche sites, he makes money from his authority blog. His niche sites just give him something to write about.
Florian Ulrich says
You’re right. Thanks for the answer.
I’ll stop the “what-if” questions and will only comment once I have at least started my own blog/business. Time to put your teachings into practise.

Interesting topic! But what to do when your main blog is stagnant and doesn’t draw any new money whatsoever no matter what you write or do? Maybe you should look somewhere else!
I’ve also “lesser” blogs with timeless content/articles very well ranked on google. But this lesser blogs never drew a penny! So I don’t waste my time on it and work on my “main” blogs.
I LOVE blogging but I need to make money from it. And the money/traffic comes from Google.

Great article. I like your idea of keeping your business ventures seperate yet connected to the mothership company. It’s given me the drive to structure my business this way. Currently all my money goes into one company, yet there are really three divisions to my mini empire. Two are truly passive income while the main venture is not.
You are a good businessman, I always learn something from your articles.

Hey,
I understand you’re a busy guy so will understand if you do not attend to my comment. Perhaps one of your more knowledgeable readers might have a bash if you do not get round to it.
I do not understand why you need satellite sites / domains? If you’re selling something to your existing traffic i.e. they will come off your site to the satellite domain, presumably it will be just a 1 page sales letter / VSL, right that is selling it, right? As they have had the opportunity to get to know you through the main site.
That being the case, why not just use a different look feel on a sales letter but keep it on the same domain? It’s easier for analytics tracking e.g. Ecommerce, split testing, SEO etc…I don’t see the purpose of a separate domain unless you’re using dodgy sales / marketing tactics (which you definitely don’t seem to promote)
If you’re hosting the product itself on a different domain fair enough- but I do that for example on a subdomain – I still don’t see why you’d need a separate domain?
I’m keen to learn more about this stuff so would welcome a response!
Cheers
Steve
Greig says
I think its depends on the individual circumstance. Blogging is a long term thing which is now easier than ever to set up and start. Which means the competition is steep. People who are on low income will be spending countless hours in a steep learning curve to make little money.
You are better off creating a product first then reverse engineer. Spend the rest of the time generating traffic to that product. Once you start making decent money then start a blog as you will have the creative energy to focus on it rather than on making money.
Most people quit as they see no money after all the effort but if reversed most people will stick to it long term. Finally most internet marketers make their fortune by selling hosting and other services to wannabe internet marketers. The majority don’t get it.
PyjamaMoney says
I agree with that!
People should have online money making ventures before to start blogging.
Just like the satellite business model Vic explained, having couple money making online businesses will support and finance your blogging project.
Blogging can be so frustrating at first, especially if you are a newbie, it may take ages before you make your first dollar.
When you have side incomes then you are more relax and focus on quality and adding value instead of making money with your blog.

Daryl says
I was learning w/ a personal blog, where I would practice editing themes w/ dreamweaver and photoshop, etc rather than outsourcing the work, and writing regularly. Obviously, there’s backing up all your content, updating plug-ins, that stuff to keep it secure.
The site was hacked (some random online blackjack link on the site was popping up), and it was just a matter of deleting everything from the host and reinstalling it to fix the problem. You’ve mentioned that when you started, you learned did all the wordpress stuff yourself. did you ever have problems with this sort of thing?
Victor Pride says
I never had those problems fortunately.

Listen here all of you Bold And Determined Wolves!
Western civilization has arrived here where it is, at the top of the world, making it a leader in science, arts and war by strong willed man and supporting and loving women. Patriarchy has been its dominant trait, and that my fellow readers grants us one thing: Progress and Blood. Patriarchy and Western civilization is not all sunshine and rainbows, it has gotten here by the blood, sweat and tears of people like Victor Pride. People that rose from their basic animal traits but kept them as fundamentals and went on to build and build until they went from huts to skyscrapers, from horse drawn carriages to high speed cars and from a basic understanding of the world to understanding atoms and molecules. How do you think this was done ? By feminists and whiny limp boys?
No, This was done by man like Victor Pride. However this civilization has turned its back on the same values that brought it here, the same blood and sweat that build the floor in which it stands. So nature or god gave something to compensate for that, someone to say the rules which now need to be written in stone because they have been forgotten! That man is Vic, think him as a sort of Aristotle or Da Vinci, great man who inspired an entire time, here to teach us what has now been forgotten. He has actually given us keys to our freedom and an meaningful life. He has done his part, save us the time of wondering what was wrong and what need to be done.
What is left for us now is just to DO IT. He has spared us the most important part of painting the scenery, we just need to feel the picture as we desire. You don’t necessarily have to build a blog or be a millionaire or anything like that, you just do what you want to, what you are cut to do. Find what inspires you and dedicate yourself until you become perfect at it. It doesn’t have to be a top position just what makes you feel whole and true inside, be it just a craftsman, a physicist, a teacher or even a head of a corporation, it does’t matter just as you feel alive and excellent at it.
Victor has inspired you all, now you all that is left is action. Everyone here including me has chosen the life of hardship and hard work to achieve excellence and success and ultimately true happiness and feeling truly alive. I believe in all of you people here, as Victor do. Do not let him down, but most importantly DO NOT let yourselves down. Everybody deserves to be the best of himself, but that only comes with being Bold and Determined.
Fortune favors the Bold.

I have an idea. Make a small e-book with, in your opinion most important, inspirational, posts from B&D and some pictures showing real life results of following actions described in them. Make it for free and lets us send it to other men. We will help you to spread the word.

Thanks, I appreciate it.
I always thought since it started that bold and determined will go on and focus more on the now and present, giving advice on how to deal with modern day propaganda like feminism, whiny males and abundance of weakness. This opportunity must be given to others, that’s why that idea of yours would be great, help us spread the word.

Vic, amazing piece of art here. As usual.
I’ve been following the blog now since the back end of 2013 and i can say you have thoroughly changed my thought process on making money, relationships and living life in general.
Like 99% of the other readers of this blog, I too work a shitty 8am to 5:30pm, soul leaching, brain draining office job. I ultimately found you because i was looking for a way out of my own personal hell.
After realising blogging just wasn’t for me (i don’t have anything of value to offer right now, maybe in the future this will change), I looked for other options where I could create value using the skills I have developed in my sales and marketing role I currently work in.
I approached one potential client with my idea (not product) and BOOM – got my first sale. Upfront payment and monthly subscription fee to my service. A few more clients and i’ll be quitting my job, expanding my business and KILLING this shit.
And not for anyone but me and my small inner circle.
On my own terms.
You’ve changed my life forever, and for that I can’t thank you enough. If I ever get to the far east I will hunt you down to buy you a beer, cigar or whatever the fuck you choose to consume!

I honestly wish I discovered your blog years ago. I’ve been blogging and in the internet marketing space for a while and everything you mentioned in this post is true.
What I like best about reading your content is it’s real, no bs. It’s making me realize how much I’ve acted “proper” and tried to fit into a norm on my main authority blog for the last 2 years. What legal measures can i use if someone from the other side of the world copies my work or how can i prevent this from happening?
i would appreciate if you give me a tip about that
Tomas says
Victor, I’m probably going to set up my own site
via your service but I’d like to know two things before
I start. Do I need to build an email subscribtion list
in advance before I launch and does my site’s name
have to one that’s easy to pronounce and write down?
Or are these useless points such as SEO wizardy?
Victor Pride says
No and yes.

Victor,
Thanks for this insanely insightful and useful article of yours! As always, great content and we can see that you’re putting your entire soul out there for everyone to see and feel in your articles.
I have always wondered about starting niche sites or one large one and heard various reasons why to do this and that. Yours makes sense and you can branch off where you need to depending on the type of content and what others respond to.
As far as the make it rain plan you mentioned, 100% correct. I realized that you need to have content or your projects work for you, whatever it is. I worked two jobs and went nowhere and worked 12 hour days at this low paying job almost 7 days a week as a routine schedule, yet ended up nowhere. So yes, I fully agree with the make it rain plan. Don’t get stuck of not having things work for you. Make it work for you!
Keep up the great work, Victor! Been reading B&D since 2013 and continue to do so.

I have also used BADNET to setup my site and am very happy with Web Hosting Hub. Thank you for the reports, Victor!

You’re very welcome.

Victor, I am looking to start a ecommerce store, what site would you recommend I start my store with? Also, is this service provided by BADNET?
Victor Pride says
I’d start with shopify. It is not provided by badnet, it would be an additional service that would need to be purchased.
Jon says
Thank you, Victor. When you start a drop shipping ecommerce store do you need to buy the products that you dropship, and actually dish out money for them?
Victor Pride says
Sometimes yes sometimes no. Depends.

Hey Vic,
This isn’t me trying to punch you in the face at all, but in this article you say you can’t fake it until you make it if you want to run a successful blog, and that you need to already “be” there before you write about it or you won’t make anything. But you have said that when you started boldanddetermined, you lived on $800 per month and had nothing.
So for someone who doesn’t necessarily have all this money or success, but wants to start a blog, would this person write about just their own experiences? Ie. Success in something that hasn’t brought them in income… yet?
I’ve been wanting to start a blog for a while now and do an internet based business and run my own show ever since I can remember, literally when I was 12 years old I started selling gum in middle school and asked my dad if I could leave school and sell it to other people full time. True story.
I am 21 now and make 75k per year cold calling and selling digital advertising. I’ve gone through a lot of experiences and have followed your blog specifically for years now and have had a number of other accomplishments, but with my young age, are you saying that I couldn’t run something successful because I don’t have the full at least 35 year real life experience? I’m going to do it anyway regardless of your answer, but would like to know what you think.

That was a choice. I had money, I walked away from it and started over.
If you have life experience you can write about it, money is not relevant to this.

Understood

You are right about the emails.
I also heard one of the most sensible advise from Patt FLynn. He NEVER sells in his emails.
But instead his emails just serve as ways to increase interactions with his subscribers.
