Germany allows Hezbollah to fundraise for the promotion of martyrdom and terrorism – Donations tax-deductible

The “Orphans Project Lebanon e.V.” (“Waisenkinderprojekt e.V.”) based in Goettingen, Germany, directly channels financial donations from Germany to the Lebanese Al-Shahid Association, according to a new report released by the European Foundation for Democracy today. The Al-Shahid Association is part of the Hezbollah network and promotes suicide bombings in Lebanon, particularly among children. In Germany, financial donations to the Orphans Project Lebanon are tax-deductible and thus subsidized by the German State’s tax policy.
The author of the report „Hezbollah‘s Fundraising Organisation in Germany“, EFD Senior Fellow Alexander Ritzmann states: “The Al Shahid Association, disguised as a humanitarian organization, promotes violence and terrorism in the Middle East using donations collected in Germany and elsewhere. The association provides financial support to so-called “martyr families” in Lebanon, for the purpose of relieving militiamen and assassins of the responsibility to provide for their families’ future. In this way, the “Orphans Project Lebanon e.V” encourages engagement in military and terrorist activities.”
According to the German Friedrich-Ebert Foundation, in one survey carried out by the Al-Shahid Association in the schools and day-care centres it operates, more than 50% of the children declared that their sole aim was to become a “shahid” or martyr.
The association’s parent organization, the Lebanese Hezbollah, is not just fighting its internal political opponents in Lebanon and Israel with military and terrorist means. It also supports the Palestinian Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, both of which have been classified as terrorist organizations by the European Union.
In 2004, the German Federal Administrative Court (Bundesverwaltungsgericht) ruled that an association may be outlawed “if by means of significant financial donations over a long period of time, it supports a group that introduces violence into peoples’ relations and if the resulting impairment of peaceful relationships between peoples results from a corresponding intent on the part of the association.”
“As evidenced by previous bans imposed by Germany on extremist organizationswho act against the concept of “international understanding,” legal measures against this Hezbollah fundraising organization are available in Germany,” says Alexander Ritzmann.

Der neue EFD-Report „Hisbollah’s Spendensammelverein in Deutschland“ der European Foundation for Democracy (EFD) deckt die eindeutigen Verbindungen zwischen dem in Göttingen befindlichen Spendensammelverein „Waisenkinderprojekt Libanon e.V.“ und der libanesischen „Al Shahid Assoziation“, die im Auftrag der Hisbollah die Märtyrerkultur im Libanon fördert, auf. Spenden an das „Waisenkinderprojekt Libanon e.V.“, sind in Deutschland steuerlich absetzbar und die finanzielle Unterstützung der Hisbollah wird somit vom deutschen Staat gefördert.
Die „Al Shahid Assoziation“ fördert unter dem Deckmantel angeblicher humanitärer Ziele mit den unter anderem in Deutschland gesammelten Spenden Gewalt und Terror im Nahen Osten. Der Verein sagt so genannten „Märtyrerfamilien“ im Libanon finanzielle Unterstützung zu. Damit soll Hisbollah-Milizionären und Attentätern die Sorge um die materielle Zukunft ihrer Angehörigen genommen werden. Das „Waisenkinderprojekt Libanon e.V.“ fördert damit die Bereitschaft zu militärischen und terroristischen Aktivitäten.
Bei einer von der „Al Shahid Assoziation“ in den von ihr betriebenen Schulen und Kindertagesstätten selbst durchgeführten Umfrage haben mehr als 50 % der Kinder erklärt, später ausschlieβlich Shahid (Märtyrer) werden zu wollen.
Die Mutterorganisation des Vereins, die libanesische Hisbollah, kämpft dabei nicht nur mit militärischen und terroristischen Mitteln gegen seine innenpolitischen Gegner im Libanon und Israel. Sie unterstützt auch die palästinensische HAMAS und den Palästinensischen Islamischen Dschihad, die beide von der EU als terroristische Organisationen eingestuft werden.
Das Bundesverwaltungsgericht hat 2004 entschieden, dass ein Verein dann verboten werden kann, „wenn er durch finanzielle Zuwendungen über einen langen Zeitraum und in beträchtlichem Umfang eine Gruppierung unterstützt, die Gewalt in das Verhältnis von Völkern hineinträgt, und wenn die dadurch eintretende Beeinträchtigung des friedlichen Miteinanders der Völker von einem entsprechenden Willen des Vereins getragen ist.“
Die European Foundation for Democracy (EFD), ist eine Organisation mit Sitz in Brüssel, welche sich dem Schutz gegen Terrorismus und der Verteidigung demokratischer und freiheitlicher Werte verschrieben hat.
