Sure, the Oscars may have moved to a Hollywood shopping mall, but Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium will still be the site of one event of movie star ego-stroking, fashion outrages, and celebrities thanking their agents in acceptance speeches. It’s the 11th annual MTV Movie Awards, whose trademark bronzed bucket-o’-popcorn trophies will be handed out in 12 categories whose nominees were announced Tuesday.

.

Nominations were chosen by a poll of MTV viewers, who displayed surprisingly eclectic taste, from critically acclaimed awards show favorites like ”The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” and ”A Beautiful Mind” to teen hits like ”The Fast and the Furious” and ”Legally Blonde.” ”Rings” topped the list with six nominations, followed by five each for ”F&F” and ”Rush Hour 2.”

MTV hasn’t officially named the hosts of the ceremony, which will be taped on June 1 and air five days later, but Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jack Black have been mentioned as possible cohosts. (Kirsten Dunst and Jimmy Fallon shared emcee duties last year.) Fans can help pick the winners by voting at MTV.com before May 18. A scorecard of nominees is below.
