Description
Portrait of Yehudi Menuhin with his pianist Adolph Baller, seated at an upright piano. There is a page-turner on Baller's left. Performing at an airbase in Adak, Aleutian Islands, 1944. Menuhin is standing on a small stage flanked by large drawn curtains, with four large arclights, the latter within the audience which comprises American GIs. He is turned to the right, with his face in profile with his bow on the violin. The board behind announces 'The Ripcord Recital'. Black and white photograph laid down on grey mottled card with a film overlay and with a black taped border. Inscribed on the image S.C. Hazzard lower left, and Anno 1944 lower right.
