Renewal SA have delivered a Draft Structure Plan of the 94 hectare space of land in Aldinga which is set to include a new school and a train station.

The land the plan is based on is owned by the Urban Renewal Authority and is located between Main South Road, Aldinga Beach Road, How Road, Quinliven Road and Port Road.

Over the last 18 months, On the Coast has reported on information from the Government that a new school would be developed but, it was not until the new Draft Structure Plan was revealed that an idea on how the surround land may appear.

Renewal SA Acting Chief Executive Mark Devine said the Draft Aldinga Structure Plan is a step closer in planning for the future development of the land at Aldinga.

"Community feedback will help ensure that the Draft Structure Plan results in a well-planned extension to the Aldinga community," Mr Devine said.

"The Preliminary Structure Plan attracted an excellent response and a number of changes have been made to reflect the stakeholder and community feedback received."

In the northern triangle which can be seen on the map to the right the community feedback revealed a desire for a neighbourhood park and potentially a wetlands area.

Along with this the community also requested parks to be spread throughout the residential area.

Renewal SA stated that the land will consist of a rail corridor, rail station, Main South Road Duplication and the new school. The remaining land is expected to comprise of a mix of uses and a variety of housing choices for the community.

Earlier this year Education Minister John Gardner announced that the school will be one of a trio of new schools set to be built in South Australia.

Mr Gardner said demographic analysis shows that this part of the metropolitan area is experiencing significant growth in the number of families with school aged children. The new school is planned to open in 2022.
