R.I.P. "Fuck Compton" Rapper Tim Dog

Tim Dog, the Bronx rapper born Timothy Blair, has died, as The Source reports (via Billboard). Blair struggled with diabetes and passed away following a seizure. He was 46.

Tim Dog was best known for the legendary 1991 diss track, "Fuck Compton", aimed at Dr. Dre and N.W.A. The track, which appeared on his solo debut Penicillin on Wax, helped ignite the East Coast/West Coast battles of the 90s.

Tim began his career working with the late Scott La Rock of Boogie Down Productions. He went on to work with KRS-One, Ultramagnetic MCs, Kool Keith, Puff Daddy, and more. Blair's solo records included 1993's Do or Die, 2003's Immortal, and 2006's BX Warrior.

Tim Dog had also written a book, "Who Killed Hip-Hop?", available through his website. Watch a video clip, in which he discusses the fall of the golden age of hip-hop, here.

In the late 2000s, Tim Dog pleaded guilty to grand larceny, after it was discovered that he conned a woman out of tens of thousands of dollars. His scam ended up as the subject of a segment on NBC's "Dateline" in 2012.
