Happy Birthday Anushka Shetty: 6 Best Performances of the Baahubali actress who is a darling among the masses
Anushka Shetty turns 38! After enthralling pan-Indian audience with Baahubali, the lady superstar of Telugu cinema is playing a mute artist in Nishabdham
Though the tag of a ‘Superstar’ is pretty rare for an actress in Indian cinema, Mangalore-born Anushka Shetty has achieved it after a decade of commitment, hardwork and dedication in the Telugu film industry. Considered as one among the few actors who can carry the entire film on their shoulders, Anushka’s trademark quality is to extract massive footfalls into the theatre without depending on a bankable male lead. Be it a period drama or a suspense-thriller or a romantic comedy, the gorgeous bombshell has proved her mettle time and time again.

After positioning herself as a successful commercial actress, the leggy lass altered her direction and balanced her repertoire by opting for content-driven & female-centric flicks like Vedam, Nanna, Bhaagamathie and Size Zero. After portraying the iconic role of Devasena in the Baahubali franchise, Sweety became a nationwide phenomenon and turned into a pan-Indian actress. At present, she is gearing up for the release of Nishabdham, a multi-lingual crossover film featuring acclaimed actors and technicians from Hollywood as well. Touted to be an adventure thriller, the big-budget project was mostly shot in Seattle.

Anushka22

Be it a saree, lehenga, Anarkali or a bikini, monokini and swimsuit, Anushka looks super-striking in all outfits and flaunts her incredible figure to perfection. She never backed off when it came to delivering a visual treat to the viewers and that’s the reason why she is still a hot darling among the masses. Today happens to be Anushka Shetty’s 38th birthday and to celebrate the occasion in style, take a look at the best performances of the sexy siren.
Super (2005)

Before working as an instructor under renowned yoga guru Bharat Thakur, Anushka completed her Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) at the Mount Carmel College in Bangalore. Impressed by her looks and screen-presence, Akkineni Nagarjuna roped in the beauty for his 2005 heist-thriller Super. While Bollywood actress Ayesha Takia played the main heroine, the Mangalore bombshell appeared as the second lead actress Sasha. Despite being a newcomer, she played the complex role to perfection and looked ravishing in all the songs. With a promising start to her film career, she went on star opposite A-list heroes like Balakrishna, Venkatesh, Ravi Teja, Prabhas, Gopichand, Mahesh Babu, etc.

Arundhati (2009)

Arundhati was perhaps the first female-centric film since many years to create a prominent mark among the Telugu audience. The fantasy-thriller directed by late Kodi Ramakrishna opened to a roaring response at the ticket-counters with rich critical acclaim for the spellbinding performances of Anushka, Sonu Sood and Sayaji Shinde. The talented actress was the scene-stealer in both the roles of Arundhati and Jejamma. Since Arundhati, there has been no looking back for this 38-year-old actress in South cinema.

Vedam (2010)

Directed by versatile filmmaker Krish, Vedam is an anthology film based on five individual stories which get connected towards the climax. In one of the parts, Anushka plays a prostitute named Saroja whose ambition is to run away from a brothel house and start her own business. Besides going bold for her complex role, she looked absolutely convincing in her in-depth character and managed to deliver a commendable act. Opting for a de-glam role at the peak of her career is a big gamble taken by Anushka which paved off pretty well. She reprised the same role in the Tamil version too.

Mirchi (2013)

Despite having a predictable plot, Mirchi worked extremely well with the viewers’ owing to the terrific performances of the lead cast, high-octane action sequences, foot-tapping tunes from Devi Sri Prasad and finally, the sizzling chemistry between Prabhas and Anushka Shetty which worked extremely well on the silver screen. The Rudhramadevi actress looked superhot throughout the film and her captivating presence in songs has struck the right chord with the masses.

Bhaagamathie (2018)

Released in 2018, Bhaagamathie stunned everyone with its engaging storyline, edge-of-the-seat moments and terrific performances from the lead actors. Starring Anushka Shetty in the titular role, the horror-thriller scored a stupendous success in the Telugu states and positioned Anushka as the second Indian actress after Sridevi to bag a $1 million film at the US box-office. The story of Bhaagamathie revolves around a female IAS officer Chanchala Reddy, who gets imprisoned in a haunted house. Things start to take an unexpected turn when she gets possessed by a spirit.

Baahubali franchise (Baahubali: The Beginning & Baahubali: The Conclusion)

While the first part of Baahubali portrayed Anushka as an old woman-cum-prisoner, the sequel showcased her as warrior queen Devasena. Her impressive performance in both the roles has garnered nationwide attention and pan-Indian popularity. She was even offered a Bollywood film by Karan Johar, but the humble actress has turned it down much to the surprise of many. The SS Rajamouli directorial registered a phenomenal victory at the global box-office and recently, the world premiere of the film was screened at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
