TCE

Only 10 minutes left…crowds forming at the two tables inside… seems like there’s an obstruction hindering the forward motion of the crowds. A few brave their way to the front to investigate… classy black and gold décor, shiny new badges, stack of thick spiral textbooks surrounded by large groups of people, convenient supply of chocolate … WAIT… are those the seminar notebooks?!

With surprise and excitement at receiving notebooks triple the size of their previous ones, these students resume their quest for knowledge by returning for yet another seminar taught by Shaykh Yaser Birjas, The Code Evolved: Evolution of Fiqh. The next two weekends are spent immersed in learning the great history and development of this science, while collecting supplies for our brothers and sisters in Darfur, and competing with one another for the purposes of knowledge and the Shaykh’s gold foiled chocolates. The first Tayybah seminar to be held in Long Island, The Code Evolved taught us of a great legacy, the legacy of the companions, the Tabi’een and the great scholars that came after them.

Memorable Moment

On the last day of class, Shaykh Yaser asks for any final questions…
A piece of paper makes its way to the front from the sisters side…
A message to this effect…
“I am leaving the country… a humble request that you please sing the nasheed ‘Ghurabaa’ for us so I can carry this memory with me when I go…”

And he did.

In addition to the newsletter, light shone on the notion that PPN should be a regular signature project after every seminar. So this email was sent out:
