Ibadah World Cup

Imagine for a moment you got a pair of tickets to your most favorite sporting event.  Let’s say it is the soccer World Cup!  With great excitement you start making preparations, you book your tickets, you pack your clothes, you leave your home early and you head out on your journey.  Finally, you make it to the arena, and it is pack-filled with people holding their vuvuzelas out ready to go nuts.  The teams come out to the field, they do their introductions, they sing their national anthems.  They are …

It’s the same scenario every year, Ramadan arrives and everything changes. Everywhere you look you see Taqwa (Fear of Allah), Tawbah (Repentance), and All-you-can-eat Lah’ma (Meat). Ramadan went from the Purification month to the free, no-holds-bar, over-eating month. Where’s the Baraqah (Blessing) in this??? There isn’t!
The day prior to, everyone excitedly makes calls congratulating each other for the arrival of Ramadan. Sisters’ look forward to not cooking, Brothers are expected late from the Masjid’, and the youth anticipate reuniting with their ‘Ramadan Crew’. Throughout the day most live a normal …

I met a religious Spanish couple who’d been Muslim for two years. They’re in their early twenties, with three beautiful children. It later broke my heart to find out that the lack of help from the Muslim community forced them into a Christian homeless shelter. Can you imagine? A young Muslim couple with babies, surrounded by drug infested walls?!
“Too often we perceive that we’re in control of our finances. We’re afraid to give too much so not to be financially burdened. Not enough live confidently that Allah will bless, protect, …

1- Have the hunger for success; Never give yourself excuses whether they are legitimate or not. Once you give yourself excuses you have already given up.
2- Set your goals as high as you can! Compete for Jannatul Firdous!
3- Build confidence in yourself and your ability. Think of the confidence of Abdullah Ibn Abbas who became a scholar at such a young age even when his Ansari companion gave up thinking no one will listen to him due to his age.
4- Do the good deeds that you love to do in …

The Qur’an and Sunnah define our Deen
Knowledge in their sciences empowers our esteem
“But so much disagreement,” a student may ponder…
“To learn the true meaning is truly a wonder!”
So many groups and so many sects…
Pulling on us from up, down, right, and left!
The hadith says this Ummah will divide into 73
72 of those sects shall burn in Hell painfully.
Only one group shall be saved on that Day
Those who followed the Book and the Prophet’s Way
But all of those groups claimed to be doing the same!
“No, akhi – all but one were …

Hungry and alone, I think of where to go next. It’s late at night and I find myself in a deserted train station with a packed suitcase waiting for a train to arrive. All alone with nobody to talk to, my mind starts to wander. The bench I am sitting on is hard and piercing my flesh. A look at the clock tells me everyone must be sound asleep by now, but here I am trying to get ahead and pull myself away from the comfort that I have grown …

الحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله
As Christians around the world are celebrating “Good Friday”, it’s noteworthy to shed some light on this event and maybe spread some knowledge to those who don’t know much about it.
Today’s holiday, Good Friday, commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, his death at Calvary, and his resurrection from the grave.
For those who worship Jesus, I have a few questions that I hope you can answer for me. Rather, it is an invitation to think, reflect and ponder.
Your One and Only Lord says in His only book that is miraculously preserved:

The day of Judgement

The day of Judgement
In the light of Juz ‘Amma
As we studied the 30th Juz, we came to realize that its main focus is on the Qiyyamah, the day when we will stand in front of our Lord to answer for everything that we have done in this world.  Qiyyamah will be the harshest day that any soul will ever witness. On this day, the only concern will be “Nafsi,” “Myself”. It will be such a day that people will neglect their own prized possessions.
This back-breaking day, will begin with a …

Lessons from Surah Ma’un

Lessons from Surah Ma’un
This surah is beautiful in its simplicity and straight-forwardness. Allah describes the characteristics of a disbeliever and hypocrite in a mere six ayat, but at the same time manages to remind the muslims as well. In these ayat is a command from Allah to provide social services, but also a greater command against hypocrisy. At first glance, we may deem that this surah is only meant for the kafir. But quickly, we come to the realization that this surah is a subtle, yet effective reminder for …
