It's an enormous subject to talk about and people like to reduce to mere talking points and buzzwords, and then every time you "defend" something they must "attack" because you're "attacking" their side and their side is perfect otherwise they wouldn't have chosen it. Arguments are replaced with word wars. The internet has always been toxic but I'm finding that with social networks lifting the veil of anonimity, instead of having better conversations thanks to knowing each other more, as if one were in a table with the other person, I see more and more that people discuss IRL like how they would online. I think even I do it, and i hate falling into that trap.

Tribalism is a bitch, I personally believe that the biggest cancer of the 20th century was none other than Nationalism. Even for the reds, they weren't immune to it and it's one of the big reasons it all went to hell. I hate to see it coming back these days, it's the reason I admire the EU as a project. It might be capitalist, but it's also an internationalist experiment that may turn out to be what achieves that oh so laudable goal of the original reds, that of having no borders and no distinctions between the people. Too bad I'm not european :P

I'm sad that you feel lonely. In our age of connectivity, it seems we're all finding out just how lonely we really were. I hope you find someone to share your life with and be happy.
