Andersson eyeing another Champions League medal
Barcelona have signed Bayern Munich defender Patrik Andersson on a three-year deal worth £6.72m.

The Catalan club's latest acquisition follows their reported £17.8m bid for Argentine prodigy Javier Saviola.

The 19-year-old River Plate striker, who is starring in the World Youth Championships in Buenos Aires, is poised to join Barcelona in a record transfer deal for a teenager.

And Andersson - already eyeing another Champions League medal - said he thought he could add some experience to a team who have been actively recruiting young players.

Hectic activity

"I want to help the team return to its rightful place at the top of Spanish football and my hope is that I can play the final once again and this time win it with Barcelona," said the 29-year-old Swedish international.

"We are going to have an interesting combination of young players and those with some more experience and for me this will be a real challenge."

News of Andersson's move comes during an already hectic week transfer activity at the Nou Camp.

French defender Philippe Christanval, Brazilian midfielder Fabio Rochemback and his fellow countryman Geovanni have all been officially presented as Barcelona players.
