The Karri Knight now is the tallest reliably measured tree in Europe. Perhaps in the Caucasus there are specimens of Caucasian fir (Abies nordmanniana) which are taller, as they have been reported up to 85 m, but first they have to be measured reliably.
For a report with photos by Dean Nicolle, see: http://git-forestry-blog.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?orderby=updated
In September 2015 a team from the UK with arborist Syd Howells, climbing expert Vicky Tough and photographer Andrew Walmsley climbed this tree and measured it to be 72.9 metre. They spent two days as well as a night up in the tree. For the story see: http://www.tentsile.com/blogs/news/53682948-karri-karri-knight-a-night-of-wonder
