Doctor Shameless Hentai Anime DVD Review

7 min read

It’s time for your appointment with another hentai release that deals with doctors, nurses, and home visits.

What They Say
Kyozaburo Nagatsuka’s hospital is teetering on the brink of financial ruin. Enter Dr. Shinji Ishida, a doctor widely rumored to have engineered countless turnarounds at other failing hospitals. Dr. Ishida’s methods are unorthodox… intrusive… and sadomasochistic!

Humiliation is his specialty and his cure-all. Now the patients can’t get enough of being treated by Dr. Ishida, and shower money on the hospital to keep from being discharged.

Dr. Ishida hardly has time to notice Nagatsuka’s daughter’s growing obsession with him; however, he has just set his sights on a new source of revenue – a mother and daughter, no less!

The Review:
Audio:
The audio presentation for this release brings us the original Japanese language track in stereo along with an English language dub, both of which are encoded at 192kbps. The show features a standard stereo mix that’s pretty much center channel based outside of the music and a few notes here and there. The dialogue and “action” sequences sound good and come across nice and clear with no noticeable dropouts or distortions. It’s a pretty basic mix as you typically get with a hentai release but it’s one that doesn’t present any problems and services the material well overall.

Video:
Originally released in 2003, Doctor Shameless is presented in its original full frame aspect ratio. Overall, it’s a decent transfer but suffers from a lot of soft scenes. The two OVAs on the disc are fairly typical of recent hentai releases with plenty of good colors that are a mix of normal palettes and some really vibrant areas. But in a lot of scenes, particularly mid-range shots, the show looks very soft and a lot of detail is lost. When the close-up scenes occur, all the detail is visible once again and there are only a few touches of softness to it. Color solidity, in general, looks good and cross coloration is pretty much non-existent. Add to the mix that the aliasing level is pretty minimal and you have a good looking transfer overall but the softness gets in the way.

Packaging:
Truth in advertising is the motto of this cover as it features a shot of one of the nurses in her pink cap and wearing only her blue flowery bra and panties while the good doctor places his stethoscope down low for a proper reading of her condition. So there’s no way to go into this without knowing that it features people from the medical profession! The back cover lets you in on the other nurses and some of the patients that are involved in this show with a few shots of animation. There are a couple of paragraphs of description for the premise but it’s written in some small red cursive font that it’s pretty hard to read and just doesn’t look good. The discs production and technical information is clearly listed an east to figure out, though the running time is short by about ten minutes. The insert is a simple piece with chapter listings on one side and advertisements on the other.

Menu:
The main menu is a simple static piece with one of the nurses from the show wearing her cap and her bra falling off in full color while the background is a red and gray shot of the male doctor. With no animation and a very brief musical loop that cuts off at a really bad place, there’s not much to the menu and you get through it quickly. Access times are nice and fast and the menu is easy to navigate.

Extras:
None.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
In the early 2000’s, medical hentai had gone to some very disturbing paths and brought about some of the nastiest things out there that many of us will see. While there’s always been some form of smut associated with the medical profession since there are plenty of control issues that lend itself to a certain side of things, the hentai arena has gone over the top in general and it’s become a playground for some truly bizarre things.

With Doctor Shameless, we get a two episode OVA series that starts down some of those paths and does some off-screen moments for a few of the nastier things, but otherwise is a fairly tame show. We’re introduced to the young up and coming doctor named Shinji. The practices founding doctor is wallowing in a place that seems to be losing patients and staff left and right due to financial issues so all the high paying senior staff is gone. He’s brought in Shinji to try and resuscitate the practice and keep the patients coming in and going out. Ensuring that his salary is safe and that he’ll get free reign to do whatever he wants to bring in the money, Shinji starts to make his rounds after checking things over with what few staffers remain.

Shinji’s examinations and clinical studies aren’t the norm as he examines his patients in ways that were likely done a hundred years ago in rural practices by unscrupulous doctors or those who just didn’t know better. His first case is a young woman of a wealthy family who happens to fake sicknesses or symptoms to get treated so she can get attention as her parents are always away. Shinji realizes the case quickly and takes advantage of it by starting her down a path of sexual control through his examination and then his words. While in a sense she is cured and he can pass her off to others on the staff to work with, she sets the model of what’s to come. His methods of examination are just as intrusive as you can imagine without using instruments and he doesn’t actually have full on sex with her until much later, letting his mental conditioning work its magic first.

Shinji’s not the only one in the hospital to do what he’s doing. One of the nurses, who isn’t an actual licensed nurse, is a performer down at the sex club who the director has also hired. She’s engaging her patients in some serious sex that gets their blood flowing and their bodies back in action. Shinji is surprised at first but he sees the results quickly and figures that she’s doing a good job. She brings some interesting and fun sex scenes into the show and is pretty easy on the eyes. As the practice starts to revive and more patients come into play, we also get an attractive mother/daughter team that the good doctors becomes involved with and gives them some treatment to help with their ailments.

Outside of the use of food and some of the minor scat at the beginning of the show, the two episodes here are fairly conventional sex with some minor deviances here and there to add some spice to things. The character designs for both genders are pretty good, though the nurses tend to be dealing with mildly ill patients so they’re not supposed to look fantastic to begin with. The character designs for the leading women are quite good and appealing and I have to say the voice actors for them in both languages did a good job with the actual sex scene performances. The first one with the nurse has her having a lot of fun with the patient and that part of it came through nicely.

In Summary:
While the treatment aspect of the show is comical to say the least, there’s a handful of good sex scenes to be found in here that aren’t all that deviant. Be it the nurse and her patient or the doctor having fun with both mother and daughter, the scenes are as well animated as you get with hentai shows and they have some good designs to them. Doctor Shameless is a decent mid-range title that feels like a bridge title to some of the nastier material out there and gives you a light dosage of it in a few scenes or off-camera. It’s not one of the worst hentai I’ve seen and I’ve seen a lot of that but it’s not one to write home about.
