Dec 9, 2019 | Rating: C+ | Full Review… Jude Dry indieWire Top Critic Sometimes, you want to get a drink, or watch a show, where you know your people will be. You want that sure thing. Generation Q provides that. Dec 5, 2019 | Full Review… Carla Meyer San Francisco Chronicle Top Critic Despite the hesitations and qualms, Generation Q is definitely an appealing sequel and it's far better than many expected. It only falters when it looks to its past instead of marching forward. Dec 6, 2019 | Full Review… Pilot Viruet Observer Top Critic The L Word is a welcomed reboot amongst a sea of unwanted ones. Dec 18, 2019 | Full Review… Janaya Greene Chicago Reader Top Critic The new series is glossy, sexy, and soapie. Jan 2, 2020 | Full Review… Debi Enker The Age (Australia) Top Critic A glossy, bighearted show that's less soapy than the original series but delivers enough secrets, sex, and secret sex to keep the stakes high. Dec 6, 2019 | Full Review… Christina Cauterucci Slate Top Critic It's playful and endearing without trying too hard. It's familiar without being overly nostalgic. It's damn loving. Nov 27, 2019 | Full Review… Carmen Phillips Autostraddle There are a number of scenes reminiscent of similar scenarios in the original series, but this time they're depicted with tenderness and joy, rather than the old pervasive sense of shame. Dec 10, 2019 | Full Review… Joel Keller Decider The new characters are fun, too, but my favorite scenes on The L Word have always been the ones with the women talking as friends. Nov 25, 2019 | Full Review… Fred Topel Showbiz Cheat Sheet View All Critic Reviews (21) Audience Reviews for The L Word: Generation Q: Season 1 9h ago The writing is a disaster, they clearly don't know the characters. Writers wanted to correct mistakes. They did worse. The writing, storyline, and acting are terrible. Bette, Alice, and Shane have sunken to new lows with cheating. The old characters don't feel like themselves. waited 10 years for nothing I'm so disappointed, wished I could give it a zero, not even 1 adele k 5d ago Different front the original and I feel that's what's great about it. You miss the old but appreciate the new. Bianca N 6d ago True garbage that should offend anyone with good taste. Poppa B Dec 30, 2019 Boring and shallow, couldn't get into it at all. I checked it out of nostalgia with low expectations and still pretty disappointing. Irina D Dec 29, 2019 More toxic alphabet garbage. R.O. T Dec 20, 2019 Refreshing faces but hope more of the old cast come back. would love to see what the rest been doing, Huiyuan W Dec 11, 2019 After watching the first episode, I just wasn't that interested. The storylines seemed forced. The writing and some of the acting was lacking. There are tonal issues too. Bette's storyline is very over dramatic, while Alice's is a little stupid. The Shane rich chick back story is so unrealistic. Bette was always a fave character. Jenny, Shane and Alice were the most annoying characters. This time out: the young new blonde is super annoying with Alice a close second. That may be due to the fact that Alice always has a joke or a smartass quip for every occassion. With all the gay characters we currently have on TV, I am not sure this reboot was necessary. Many may be upset that all the OG characters did not return. ....I am recommending everyone I know to check out HBO's Gentleman Jack. A far superior production with excellent writing and acting. Fascinating since it is based on a real woman who lived in England in the 1800s. Wendy G Dec 10, 2019 Loved it. I thought it was amazing. Especially, some of Bette's lines. Jesus! IT HAD ME TALKING OUT LOUD WITH AGREEMENT. T.k. H Dec 09, 2019 After one episode, I'm certainly interested. It doesn't feel like it entirely justifies its existence (in place of, like, an entirely new show about queer folks). But, it feels more authentic and the writing feels more deliberate than The L Word came to be after those first two seasons. I'm optimistic, and will be watching the rest of the season. Justin S Dec 09, 2019 Really love the mix of original and new characters. Each unfolding character's story was interesting. Writing, acting and production great. Loved it.
