PILEATED PARROT Pionopsitta pileata ATLANTIC FOREST
For most Neotropical birders, the tick next to Pileated Parrot in their notebooks refers to a brief view of a noisy flock of short-tailed parrots flying high overhead in their characteristically erratic manner. Only with a large dose of luck will you see the birds perched - their all green plumage provides excellent camouflage and they remain silent when feeding so are easily overlooked.
