WSU Military Veterans: Heroes and Legends

Front Cover
Tornado Creek Publications, 2005 - Biography & Autobiography - 224 pages
Many Washington State University alumni have served in the military, and the tales of these Cougar veterans bring to life heroism and gallantry that should never be forgotten. Some flew bombing missions during World War II. Others fought at Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge, and in other pivotal conflicts. Still others saw action in Korea, Vietnam, or Desert Storm. C. James Quann spent ten years researching and writing this tribute to WSU military veterans who made sacrifices for their country and freedom. He conducted oral history interviews and poured over official records to document their war experiences at home, in the Pacific Theater, Europe, North Africa, and other fronts. He includes War Department citations for valor, photographs, and more than sixty case studies, as well as brief summaries of those killed or missing in action in World War I and II, Korea, Vietnam, and the first Persian Gulf War.
