For the first time since the VCA Walk for the Animals benefiting the Humane Society of Broward County began 30 years ago, a national celebrity, Clinton Kelly, will be at this year’s event on March 7 at Huizenga Park in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Opponents will have to wait another year if they hope to wrestle the crown away from the Highlighters girls' soccer club.

Over the next 18 months, philanthropists Phyllis and Al Thomas will match dollar-for-dollar contributions made to Women In Distress through a $250,000 “Vision for the Future” challenge grant. The foundation, which has been supporting the organization for the past decade, will now be considered a legacy donor at the $1 million level.

Taste of the NFL’s annual star-studded wine and food fundraiser, Party with a Purpose, brought together cuisine, over 40 prominent chefs from around the country, NFL players, coaches, sports legends, celebrities and more at The Diplomat in Hollywood to support the fight against hunger.

Local elections in Florida as well as the presidential primary are on Tuesday, March 17. The deadline to register to vote, update your address or change your party to be able to vote in the primary of your choosing is even sooner.
