Recent research has found that using intermittent fasting for weight loss may have some benefits in the short term. But at this point, we don’t know the long-term effects of this type of diet or other diets that severely restrict calories.

The French municipality of Marseille described Tel Aviv as part of “former Palestine” in an official letter to a resident who was born in the Israeli city. Mayor Jean-Claude Gaudin signed the letter, which was sent on Feb. 5 informing the resident that he was registered on the city’s electoral list. His place of birth was listed as “Tel Aviv – Ex-Palestine.”

The attacks happened across the globe — in Europe, Oceania and America. But they followed similar playbooks and shared the same noxious ideas.

“Hunters,” the new show co-produced by Jordan Peele and created by David Weil for Amazon Prime, tells the story of a crew of Nazi hunters in 1970s America. They are led by a mysterious man named Meyer Offerman, who has a thick Yiddish accent and is played by none other than Al Pacino.

Author James Patterson will serve as the keynote speaker at the Palm Beach Fellowship of Christians & Jews' Annual Dinner on March 18 at the Breakers Palm Beach. The Fellowship will also honor Morton and Barbara Mandel posthumously with the John C. Randolph Award during the occasion.

Most investors understand the importance of diversification but may not understand how to efficiently diversify their investments.

I am pleased to announce that my newest book, Only in Florida: Why Did the Manatee Cross the Road and Other True Tales, is due out from the History Press in March. The book presents 32 stories (plus one of mine) that people around the state told me over the course of a year about especially “Floridian” incidents in their lives. There are unusual stories about hurricanes, golfing, fishing and more. Among them are two Jewish stories. Here is a brief version of one of them, originally related to me by Eva Cohen.

Last spring my daughter Heather modeled in her temple’s sisterhood annual fashion show and it looked like so much fun. I’d always thought that running a fashion show as a fundraiser was a great idea for temples. We love seeing new clothing especially modeled by women who are not exactly Heidi Klum or Christie Brinkley. In other words, real women with real bodies.

In between penning these columns for the Jewish Journal (which provides great pleasure to me when neighbors tell me how much they’ve enjoyed reading my take on a particular subject) I still practice my craft as a composer.

Let me repeat that headline: Anti-Semitism is NOT rising in America. Since I have been maintaining this consistently over the past 15 years, some of my readers have asked how I can still believe this, considering the recent attacks in Monsey, New York, Pittsburgh, Poway, California and Jersey City.
