Metrolinx is building the Eglinton Crosstown, Toronto’s new 19-kilometre light rail transit (LRT) line that will run along Eglinton Avenue with a central 10 km underground section. The Crosstown will connect Mount Dennis in the west to Kennedy Road in the east, and the new service will be up to 60% faster than the bus service today. With 25 stations and stops and connections to 3 TTC subway stations, 54 local bus routes, 3 GO Transit lines and the UP Express, the Crosstown will improve travel times and change the way we move through the heart of the city.

Bus Loop Closure at Eglinton West Station

Starting in late March, the bus loop at Eglinton West Station will be closed for approximately five (5) months while crews construct part of the roof of Cedarvale Station.

Please see the construction notice on the website for details regarding the upcoming pedestrian and traffic changes. Stay tuned for a new Cedarvale progress video and navigational video later this month!

Underpinning work is now complete at the station, and needle beam installation was successfully completed in January, creating the cradle that is now supporting the weight of the TTC’s Line 1 subway. You can read more about the work going on at Cedarvale Station on the Metrolinx blog.

First Shelter Installation At Pharmacy!

Driving along Eglinton Avenue East, you might have noticed a new addition to the streetscape. Last week, the team installed the first shelter for the stop at Pharmacy! The shelters come prefabricated and are hoisted into place.

Good-bye Tunnel Boring Machines!

At the beginning of the Eglinton Crosstown Project, four tunnel boring machines (TBMs) were used to dig the tunnels for the new transit line. In March 2017, pieces of TBM Don and TBM Humber were lifted out of the extraction shaft from the completed east tunnels, just east of Yonge Street on Eglinton Avenue.

Starting from this week onwards, the site team will extract pieces of remaining TBMs, Dennis and Lea, from the west tunnels at Eglinton and Duplex. During the morning of March 9, the cutter head of one of the TBMs were lifted. Stay tuned for a time lapse video. The rest of the TBMs will be removed overnight from the site. Please see the construction notice on the website for details.
