UPDATE March 25:

Number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Lithuania: 255

Deaths: 4

The Government of the Republic of Lithuania has decided to extend the quarantine period until April 13, taking into account the changing situation and the recommendations of epidemiologists. Masks for mouth and nose protection recommended in public areas, as wells as new rules for visiting parks, open spaces and shopping places specified.

UPDATE March 23:

Nineteen new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Lithuania on Monday, bringing the country’s total to 179.

A total of 2,361 coronavirus tests have been done in Lithuania so far, and one person died.

Meanwhile, 5,000 testing reagents for the coronavirus were delivered to Lithuania by a Lithuanian Air Force transport plane on Sunday night.

UPDATE March 21:

A person infected with the new coronavirus has died in Lithuania.

Another 16 cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Lithuania on Saturday evening, bringing the country’s total to 99.

UPDATE March 19:

Seven new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Lithuania late on Thursday, bringing the country’s total to 48.

Number of tests performed yesterday: 92

A total of samples tested in relation to the suspected coronavirus to date: 1027

Number of persons who have submitted data to the National Public Health Centre under the Ministry of Health: 56 219 (as of 18 March)

Several mobile coronavirus testing sites opened on Thursday in Vilnius and Kaunas. More are to be launched in other towns across the country.

UPDATE March 18:

Seven new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Lithuania on Wednesday, bringing the total number of infections to 33.

Meanwhile, 935 coronavirus tests have been done in Lithuania by Wednesday morning.

The patients recently visited countries, including Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, France and the UK.

The first woman who was diagnosed with the virus in Lithuania has already recovered and been
released from hospital.

UPDATE March 16:

Two new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Lithuania on the night to Monday.

One person has recently returned from Spain and the other one returned from Germany. They are both isolated and undergoing treatment at Santara Clinics in Vilnius.

The Lithuanian government endorsed a package of economic measures, worth 5 billion euros, to mitigate the negative impact of the coronavirus for businesses and workers.

To date, 14 cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) confirmed in Lithuania.

UPDATE March 15:

Three new cases of  coronavirus (Covid-19) have been confirmed. All the three new patients have recently returned from abroad.

One of them has been isolated in Klaipėda University Hospital, while two others have been hospitalised in Vilnius Santara Clinics.

The first woman to be treated from the coronavirus in Lithuania was diagnosed on February 28. She has recovered and was recently released home.

To date, 12 cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) confirmed in Lithuania.

UPDATE March 14:

The Lithuanian government has announced a two-week nationwide quarantine. The measures include closing borders to foreign nationals and shops except pharmacies and groceries.

Lithuanian citizens currently abroad have been advised to return immediately.

To date, 9 cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) confirmed in Lithuania.

UPDATE March 13:

As of the 13th of March, Three new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases have been confirmed.

One of the cases concerns a Spanish national, a woman from Madrid. The other two are Lithuanians. A woman in Klaipėda tested positive after returning from Tenerife in the Canary Islands. A man in Kaunas has also been diagnosed following a skiing trip to Italy.

To date, 6 cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) confirmed in Lithuania.

UPDATE March 12:

The Lithuanian government backed the State Emergency Situation Commission’s proposal to suspend activity of all educational, cultural, sports and leisure establishments in the country due to the coronavirus threat, and also ban traveling to certain countries. Upon the commission’s final approval, the decision will come into force on Friday and be in force until March 27.

All educational establishments – kindergartens, schools and universities – are being closed for two weeks from Friday.
