Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, the totally fictitious, not-at-all based-on-anyone-we-actually-know movie from The Lonely Island, dropped today. It tells the story of (again, totally made up) Connor4Real, a pop star who has to grapple with waning fame and a public image that is becoming entirely too problematic. And like any great music movie, it has an epic soundtrack — and Emma Stone appears on one of the tracks.
Emma, who got her start singing on reality TV and has appeared in a Broadway revival of Cabaret, is already rumored to star in a musical of her own, but she also lent her vocals to the song "Turn Up the Beef." The track features some confusing Spanish phrases — we're hoping that this is just a parody of appropriative, Latin-inspired pop music taken to its furthest possible conclusion — and Emma takes center stage in the chorus.
She's not featured in the film itself, but with everyone from 50 Cent and Seal making a cameo on-screen to Michael Bolton appearing on the soundtrack, it's clear that Connor didn't hold back when it came to lining up features.
