Fuzz on the Lens flick features host of 'Abnormal' cult movie icons

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Fuzz on the Lens is back in the spotlight: The local production company behind those infamous Staten Island Clown sightings a few years back is unleashing a feature film, "Abnormal Attraction," on the big screen.

The "red carpet world premiere" takes place Thursday, March 1, at the SVA Theater, 333 West 23rd St. in Manhattan. (The $15 tickets are going fast; check for availability at EventBrite.com.)

Director Michael Leavy said, "It's a comedy/fantasy based in a world where fairytale creatures live alongside humans, it's a modern day fairytale with themes that transcend time. We must all learn that no matter how different we are, in reality we are actually the same."

Fuzz on the Lens originally came up with the idea for the film in late 2013, and began curating a script shortly after.

"The original idea was a short film and after Robert Englund (aka Freddy Krueger from "Nightmare on Elm Street") read it and really loved the initial premise, everyone at Fuzz came to the conclusion of not wasting our time with a simple short but rather evolving it into a full length feature film" said Leavy.

The film, shot primarily on Staten Island with some scenes filmed in New Jersey and Los Angeles, features many cult film actors including Academy Award nominee Bruce Davison ("Longtime Companion"), comedian Gilbert Gottfried ("Aladdin"), Malcolm McDowell ("A Clockwork Orange"), Leslie Easterbrook ("Police Academy") and porn icon Ron Jeremy.

"Pretty much everyone who read it saw we had something fun, unique and exciting on our hands," Leavy said. "Everyone kept telling us how much they laughed and enjoyed the premise."

"Abnormal Attraction," which Fuzz on the Lens considers to be by far their best work to date, will hit the film festival circuit shortly after the premiere in Manhattan, starting with the HorrorHound in Cincinnati the weekend of March 25th, when it will screen during the midnight movie section.

Fuzz on the Lens is composed of eight local Staten Islanders: Leavy, Steven Della Salla, Jason Leavy, Johnny Collins, Robert Privitera, Andrew Johansen, Kyle Mullins, and Sean Imbraguglio.
