Brazilian Diego joins Adelaide United

Brazilian attacking midfielder Diego has signed with Adelaide United for two-and-a-half years, the A-League club said today.

Diego, 27, whose full name is Diego Walsh, joins Adelaide from Miami FC in the United Soccer League (USL) after trials with the club for the past month.

He scored five goals in 22 matches for Miami last season and was the seventh pick in the first round of the Major League Soccer Draft in 2003.

"Not only the players but the organisation has made me feel very welcome and I'm very excited about joining the team," Diego said in a statement.

"Maybe I can bring something different to the table, I feel I'm a player that can score some goals, take guys on so I'm very excited about getting started."

Diego may be available to play for Adelaide in Sunday's crunch home game against Sydney FC at Hindmarsh Stadium.
